I cleaned the page up a bit and added a tiny mention of the video's exposure on the internet - "as well as notoriety on the internet." Eh? Eh?? Just felt like reporting that, because damn it's lonely to do this and stay quiet about it. : P

Well, since I wrote this article, I obviously think that the article is accurate and that there is no non-neutral content. Whoever put the dispute should probably say something about WHAT they dispute..? Pacian 23:47, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Did you visit his web page? I don't know how to cite a source for this other than to say that it's just common knowledge and extremely obvious. Unless you think that a music video featuring a man bumping and grinding with other men (wearing only jock straps) while singing "suck, suck, suck!" has been in heavy rotation in heterosexual circles...? He has not marketed himself to anywhere outside of the gay community, and although he MAY appeal to non-gay people his primary influence is on gay culture. Pacian 15:32, 24 May 2005 (UTC)

I imagine that Soccer Practice in particular has a lot of traction as an Internet phenomenon, which is how I heard about it. Maybe "not well known outside the gay community except as an internet phenom" would more adequately describe it. Just to add a (belated) dos pesetas, both "Lookin' Cute, Feelin' Cute" and "Soccer Practice" are common in gay clubs. Which, as a straight man, I do go to, because "het" bars are so tragically boring. • I understand what you're saying, but I think you're confusing the issue. Take Rupaul, for example. Though many heterosexual people may know who she is and what she does, it is primarily homosexuals who are attending her concerts and buying her albums etc...following that same train of thought, it is primarily gay people who are purchasing "Gay Pimp" merchandise and attending McGovern's performances (which are almost exclusively at gay venues or at pride festivals.) I also heard of him as an internet phenomena - I saw him at MuchoSucko.com. None of my gay friends knew of him. The whole term "Gay community" is somewhat ridiculous. It's like saying TLC is famous in the womens community. I knew plenty of women who doesn't give squat about TLC. The gay community is a myth invented by homosexual mediawhores and media itself. Gay is diversity. The thing that is completely common with all homosexuals is their homosexuality, not their preference in music. I find your comments to be extremely ignorant. The term "commuity" means "a group of people having common interests." The gay community is a term that is used to refer to those gay individuals who actively pursue regular interactions with other groups of gay individuals, often in inherantly gay settings, for activities that commonly appeal primarily (or signifigantly) to gay people. I'm not a "homosexual mediawhore," and I embrace the term and all of its facets. Perhaps you should keep your tongue to your teeth on matters that you CLEARLY don't comprehend. I don't think we disagree much after all. As I interpret your statement there's a wide array of gay communities, but not one single homogeneous gay community. That is why the statement is void. I'm quite sick of having people apply attitude, taste and cultural bagage upon me as soon as I tell them I'm gay, so let's break the stereotypes and promote an image where homos don't need to look cute, feel cute and worship madonna and the fab five. Now, if you want to keep the sentence, please change the sentence to "The stereotypical gay community" and I won't quirk anymore about it :o) But if not, I feel that "Though he is known by a variety of people, his fanbase is primarily gay." says what needs to be said. --MadiZone 12:43, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

There's also no mention of the stories that were released about Producer Chuck Griffith who claims to be the founder of the podcast and had actually started the concept originally with Jonny while they worked on the Logo Pilot, Gay Playa, which there is no mention of here as well.

• The CDDB lists "Johnny McGovern". The iTunes Music Store lists it as Jonny. gaypimp.com lists it as Jonny. Can you come up with something clearer? I've got the CD, and could probably find it. Is it possible he changed his name somewhere along the line? Also, you can just use the "move" tab, above, to move articles. No, you can't just use the move tab, the article that's already at "Johnny McGovern" needs to be deleted, and only administrators can do that. The CDDB is just wrong: look at the links already provided in the article; Jonny McGovern's website spells his name "Jonny McGovern"; I think that's fairly definitive. Who knows, maybe CDDB got their misinformation from us. - Outerlimits 23:34, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Podcast -> new page?

Homosexual?

Just curious, nowhere in the article that I can see does it directly say that this fellow is homosexual. Seeing as many straight performers will have personas that are recognized as gay (and are celebrated by many in gay communities as a homosexual figure) I'm rather curious as to what Jonny has identified with. I was actually wondering about this myself. The article almost exclusively talks about his music, but very little about himself. In that regard, I think this article isn't really complete. Hell, I'd love to know why his voice sounds the way it does in the few things I've ever seen him in - such as World's Dumbest, which is actually what brought me here out of curiosity.--68.6.182.39 (talk) 21:28, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Appropriate To Expand?

Hello! I'm interested in making a page for Jonny's Podcast/YT Series 'Hey Qween'. It's very popular and I think it deserves it's own page. Any oppositions to this? I'd suggest a section on his page but there's well over a hundred episodes to summarise Eat Your Makeup (talk) 20:37, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
