Portal Layout[edit]

Can we convert this topic into a portal type setup similar to either the wikipedia portal or something like agriculture? It just seems there are so many details within this topic that being able to look up "project management" and having direct access to materials specific in the PMBOK and other methodologies makes sense. Perhaps having link sections on project management maths and formulas, section for the ITTOs and management styles etc etc.

I think this would be immeasurably helpful to people who need to look up this information. I'd help it all together if the request is approved.

Thanks, Scot

Work management[edit]

Draft:Work management is being edited. It is written as "Subject is already covered by project management articles.". I think they have different purposes and coverage. Please exchange your opinions. Mocha c jp (talk) 21:55, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's a neologism, and the term is a synonym for Project management. It should not have a separate article. - MrOllie (talk) 13:15, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
About comparing Work management and Project management.
Here are some descriptions for your reference.

Those are not reliable sources as defined by Wikipedia. MrOllie (talk) 01:20, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
WM seems to be a recent way of thinking, and it is difficult to find old papers. As you said, it may not be eligible for posting on Wikipedia. However, I cannot agree that WM and PM are the same because of their characteristics. So, on Wikipedia pages such as Jira work management, shouldn't the target be described as WM instead of PM? Other vendors are also fully appealing that they are systems for WM in the same way. Mocha c jp (talk) 02:02, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think that WM has some points that do not match the description in the introductory part of Project management.
Points that do not match WM: "given constraints", "project documentation", "scope, time, and budget", "The objective of project management is to produce a complete project which complies with the client's objectives.", "In many cases, the objective of project management is also to shape or reform the client's brief to feasibly address the client's objectives.", "A project is a temporary and unique endeavor designed to produce a product, service, or result with a defined beginning and end (usually time-constrained, and often constrained by funding or staffing) undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives, typically to bring about beneficial change or added value.", "The temporary nature of projects stands in contrast with business as usual (or operations),[5] which are repetitive, permanent, or semi-permanent functional activities to produce products or services.". Mocha c jp (talk) 04:12, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In Project, "Project management" is defined as "In project management, a project consists of a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result. Another definition is a management environment that is created for the purpose of delivering one or more business products according to a specified business case. Projects can also be seen as temporary organizations".
WM is thought to be represented by PM, but is it an extension of the definition of Project? Considering this, I think that the idea that WM is the same as PM does not hold true.
On the other hand, WM thinks that "Collaborative project management" is also applicable, but for the same reason as above, it is not the same. Mocha c jp (talk) 07:13, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think that your English language skills are insufficient to communicate on the English language Wikipedia - it is very difficult to follow what you are saying. I am also not sure you are properly understanding the distinctions between these various technical terms in English. MrOllie (talk) 12:30, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Specific text to be added or removed: Subsection under “Approaches of project management” called "Modular project management"

Modular project management is an approach to project planning based on two guiding principles; replicable modularity in design and speed in iteration. Rather than planning big one-off projects that rely on completely developing and integrating bespoke components, the idea is to experiment with a few modules and iterate until you master delivery, at which point you go full-scale.

  • Reason for the change: Relevant contribution to the subject. But please, feel free to adjust the text appropriately.(It is my first request edit - so I am not completely sure if the is ok. I am a part of Prof. Flyvbjergs Research Team)

I oppose this edit - it does not improve the article in any substantial way aside from shoehorning in a particular citation. - MrOllie (talk) 13:06, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
