  • William thaunbder (sp) - manifold ..
  • ? William Gosper - fractals? computer algebra system... famous for his "flowsnake" at least.

some projective geometry contributors not yet there

Brianchon Dupin Chasles

Hippocrates of Chios[edit]

Why is he not on the list? 147.226.225.117 (talk) 02:03, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One would think that his work, the first systematically organized geometry handbook (a Stoicheia Elements if you will), would certainly qualify him in this category. Excellent suggestion, 147dot226dot225dot117. JimScott (talk) 22:20, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bonnie Stewart[edit]

Famous for an entire category of polyhedra (Toroidal_polyhedron#Stewart_toroids) Holy (talk) 22:48, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Names to remove? (to discuss)[edit]

Here discussion of former names to remove:

Albert Einstein[edit]

okay, a great scientist but what did he add to geometry? WillemienH (talk) 17:57, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Maurits Cornelis Escher[edit]

okay, a great artist but what did he add to geometry? WillemienH (talk) 17:57, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Keith Critchlow [edit]

Sacred architecture, sacred geometry ? WillemienH (talk) 17:57, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

removed 80.72.94.176 (talk) 09:30, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removed and commented out entries[edit]

Nilakantha Somayaji (removed)[edit]

I removed this entry - not geometry! Tom Ruen (talk) 00:58, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Would not his work in spherical geometry qualify him in this category? Just curious. JimScott (talk) 21:55, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jacob Fishbein (commented out).[edit]

I commented out Jacob Fishbein because I cannot find any Google results for him as a mathematician. A food blogger, yes. A student presenting a tongue-in-cheek powerpoint comparison of American and Spanish tennis players, yes. A teacher at The Crossroads School in Baltimore, Maryland, yes. One Harold Jacob Fishbein graduating from University of Chicago in 1914, yes. But, no mathematical mentions. More than happy to be wrong; please provide article meeting Wikipeda guidelines when you re-institute his name. JimScott (talk) 21:49, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganisation of talk page[edit]

I reorganised this page a bit so to have sections about:

Names to add.

Names to discuss

and to collect removed entries .

I moved old comments to the section they belong, hope that it all worked out correctly , an that this reorganisation is seen as a good idea. WillemienH (talk) 17:57, 5 February 2015 (UTC)WillemienH (talk) 22:31, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dates of birth and death[edit]

.. need to be added for each entry. Michael Hardy 00:10, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ordering by birth?[edit]

I'd find this more useful if sorted by birth order. Tom Ruen (talk) 00:56, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

template listings[edit]

Why do we have templates listed? Should those be converted to actual names? JimScott (talk) 22:23, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Worst article on wikipedia?[edit]

Maybe not, but who sees a random list of names and feels informed? Tom Ruen (talk) 01:39, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I reworked it (1) Added birth/death dates (2) Regrouped by chronological birth (3) Added some portraits. Much better! A person coming here might care to explore further now? Tom Ruen (talk) 03:11, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
