Sense[edit]

The second sentence in the "Life" section doesn't really contain any meaning, but it is discernible that those presented are his parents.

Thanks for inserting the picture, but this shabby image is just about everywhere. How about finding a better one. Tmesipt 2/7/04

Minor corrections on 2.8.04 Tmesipt.

I would like to add a map of the California claims case. I do not know how to do this. Help? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Isuttion (talkcontribs) 16:47, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ishi[edit]

"In 2003, the stepbrothers Clifton and Karl Kroeber published a book of essays on Ishi's story, which they co-edited, called, Ishi in Three Centuries. This is the first scholarly book on Ishi to contain essays by Native American writers and academics."

The article doesn't explain who Ishi is, yet he seems to be quite important (picture with A. Kroeber, book by C. and K. Kroeber, working with A. Kroeber, ...) and/ or well known in the USA (?). I've read the article on Ishi afterwards, but I suggest that his significance is explained in one or two sentences before the article goes on how A. Kroebers sons wrote a book about him. -- 78.52.167.219 (talk) 23:22, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

name change[edit]

I spent many years studying anthropology, and many of my current colleagues are anthropologists. We always called him "Alfred Kroeber" and never "A. L. Kroeber". To me, this name change seems to be a step in the wrong direction. Anthon.Eff (talk) 14:27, 25 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV issues[edit]

This is a bizarre biography. It mentions, in passing, Kroeber's 2021 unsanctimonious unnaming without explaining why, instead implicitly dismissing it with a useless quote which sets up a strawman appealing to the regional ultra-progressiveness as the cause, not in fact Kroeber's antagonism towards the objects of his study, which was clearly the point of the whitewash. Great job, folks. Since I'm not the kind of editor who would slap a NPOV tag on an article, I'll just leave this comment here indicating my disappointment with those who should know better.
