That's an interesting article indeed. It dawned upon me while I was reading the 7th paragraph that this might exclusively be about the United States. If that's really the case—I just don't know—could we say so at the beginning? <KF> 23:50, Oct 11, 2004 (UTC)

Six years on, it's still almost exclusively about the USA (with one or two references to Canada-as-a-foreign-land). Is this because the format is exclusively American? If so, that's quite interesting and should be included. If not, then the article is Wrong and needs to be broadened. fuddlemark (befuddle me!) 03:57, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Easy Listening is a style of music, whereas Beautiful Music is a radio format that makes use of Easy Listening. I think that's the difference. And the articles reflect that: one is about music, the other about radio. Where there is a lot of overlap is in the list of artists. The article mentioned Ed Winton as a programmer in the format but I'm surprised it left out his ownership of WWBA, a Tampa beautiful music station that often led its market's ratings, and usually pounded the tar out of WDUV when both were around. http://www.crazedfanboy.com/npcr/letterspcr222.html

Hardly. It's the name of the format. Whether you find it to be beautiful or not is immaterial, that's what it is called. One could easily argue that neither beauty pagents nor beauty shops are particularly beautiful; nonetheless they are called such. WZEZ in Nashville[edit]

WZEZ in Nashville, Tennessee was a perennial top-five ARB-rated station in the 1970s and 1980s and deserves mention, even if it is now soft-AC WJXA. It was owned by South Central Communications, which also owned WEZK and several other Beautiful Music stations. It was important due to Nashville's status as a recording center. Article Gutted[edit]

What a shame that one editor made huge edits that gutted this page (and nobody caught it to revert them) back in August 2011. It turned a rich and interesting page into something boring. Hondo77 (talk)

    • I'm back! Got some free time at work and un-gutted some relevant info on what "bm/ez" even was back in its days. And since mb/ez is also a format of music (w/o ads, simple as), I added some tricks on listening modern media without ads -- it may not be relevant to the "60's-70's-80's quasigenre" part of BM/EZ, yes.       An editor reverted some of my edits as "irrelevant". I mean... They wouldn't sell you LPs or cassettes with reels of "beautiful music" in regular "vinyl stores" back in the day. Please add examples[edit]
