Should the categories in Category:History by topic be promoted to Category:History. It seems silly to have to drill down an extra level, especially since Category:History is so depopulated. dml 13:48, 17 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Historical Topics not Historical Fields[edit]

This seems to be a list of histories of topics, rather than historical fields or topics in history. Maybe a category of historical fields should be created as well? -- TheMightyQuill 19:08, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

National Register of Historic Places

I think something should be added - the National Register of Historic Places. It identifies buildings, sites and districts of significance to the American past. Many structures and districts in villages, towns, and cities, as well as battlefields across the country, are included on the Register. Significance is evaluated by architectural merit, cultural and historic signficance. The categories are many. The National Register is maintained by the National Park Service, which evaluates nominations together with State Historic Officers. It's accessible at National Park Service, Dept. of Interior.
