how can cobb have had a law practice during the 80s if he graduated from law school in 1993? (a fact that is verified using cobb's bio on his site) Thepedestrian 16:02, Nov 30, 2004 (UTC)

Reverting to remove the following POV (and ungrammatical) edit: Numerous rank and file Green Party members who voted for pro-Nader candidates in the primaries were stunned by the outcome, particularly in California and New York were the most numerous Green Party voters reside. They cried foul saying that some electors at the convention failed to represent their preference for a Nader/Camejo ticket. Attempts to allow the Green Party to endorse ballot lines for both Cobb and Nader failed. Some concluded that Green Party unity was broken at the convention, while others strove to recusitate it by later working to clarify party rules and make party democracy more transparent. The same edit was added to Peter Camejo, apparently by a Camejo partisan; "numerous...members" are cited, "some electors" were faulted, and a false dichotomy is set up at the end. - Scooter 03:44, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I'm not sure why Ben Manski made the last edit that he did. Some of what he reverted was NPOV, but some seemed like legitimate facts - like Cobb's standing in primaries after the convention. It seems to me that this page (and most of all the GPUSA page) need to acknowledge both sides of the controversy around the convention, and right now summarize the arguments only for one side, Cobb's. I understand that Ben Manski believes the other side's arguments to be flawed, but surely they must be acknowledged. Catsv 18:00, 14 January 2006 (UTC)catsv[reply]

The statement about the standing in the primaries (before the convention) is not accurate. It is an allegation repeatedly made and refuted, and is not commonly accepted as fact within or without the Green Party. It is widely disputed, as it is based on accepting data from only a few states, and excluding all the rest. Secondly, most of the rest of the "edits" were of the same vein, only more combative and biased. To say that Cobb was disbarred, or that he resigned "in shame" from the Green National Committee, is utterly false. To blame Cobb for division within the party, as opposed to other candidates, or to outside factors, is clearly biased. In sum, none of the changes added new, well-substantiated, useful information to the bio. They were all in the vein of a hatchet job. Wikipedia is not the place for this kind of discourse (whether targeted at Cobb, Nader (I've removed similar nasty "edits" there, or anyone else). Stick to the facts. Ben Manski 16 January 2006

Unelected Steering Committee?[edit]

Continued use of: "which is run by an unelected Steering Committee completely unaccountable to organization members." in various spots on this page looks to me like POV. First, I'm not sure that it's relvanet information. If another page is created about Cobb's organization then it might pass for a controversy piece. But, as far as I understand many political groups are made up of unelected boards, so I'm not sure that this is anything special or interesting. Second, if it is in fact important information then it can be stated differently, such as: "some organization members take issue with the decisions of the steering commitee of the organization, which is an unelected body." Of course, a statement of this manner should have some truth to it. While "unelected" is a fact that can be easily supported or refuted, statements like "completely unaccountable" are terms that have many different meanings to many different people. I take it as a very strong statement of dissatisfaction within the organization, and as such it should only be stated this way with strong evidence to back up such a claim. --Metatree 08:11, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The recent changes made by 165.121.198.166 on the unelected steering committee issue are improved in comparison to earlier versions, thus I have opted to leave them be. – The subject currently sitting at the ambiguous title as the de facto primary topic may have been a United States presidential candidate in 2004 for the Green Party of the United States, but per the page view comparison, this subject is clearly not the primary topic, and neither is there one. At best, the current de facto primary topic may have been looked up during their campaign, but their notability compared to other "David Cobb" subjects has waned during the previous 15-or-so years. Note: I used the "(activist)" disambiguator because it was the first that came to mind, and "(politician)" and "(American politician)" are ambiguous with David Cobb (Massachusetts politician). Another option for this move may be David Cobb (American politician, born 1962) since the subject seems to not have affinity with any particular state. In all honesty, if the aforementioned disambiguator is preferred over "(activist)", I have no opinion on that, but I chose "(activist)" since it is less bulky.
