I was fascinated by the Zizkov TV tower because it has large iron babies crawling up and down its sides (I'm North American). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adam78 (talkcontribs) 16:48, 1 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Same here (from UK). The new unicode characters are obviously 'authentic' in Czech, but only show up as squares on my screen. Can we compromise and not use them on the 'English' page?. Also, I am very surprised about how short the article is on the Czech language page (although the photo is impressive). Maybe they do really hate the thing after all...I suppose they have reason.ChrisRed 20:51, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

most of the Praguers really hate the tower, but it is (slowly) changing. The young generation see it High-Tech and it looks really fantastic at night. The UFO-babies helped too;) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Szalas (talkcontribs) 23:21, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Szalas: Love the photos, thanks. I can feel another visit to Prague coming on very soon!. ChrisRed 17:09, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I've heard it called "Jakešův pyj" (cock), after the last secretary general of Czech communist party, but I don't know how common the nickname is... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.71.109.235 (talkcontribs) 15:01, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I live next to this tower and I've never heard anything like "Jakešův pyj" :D — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.42.158.159 (talkcontribs) 22:09, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I´ve heard it, but it isn´t used very often. Some call it "Prague Baikonur", but it isn´t used very often too. Actually it has no generally used nick.
PS. At this moment (since last week) the tower has a new "image" - it is shining with different colors (in one moment it looks red, in few seconds it change to blue, than to purple...) ...it looks REALLY SCI-FI:) like from Spielberg:) sz — Preceding unsigned comment added by Szalas (talkcontribs) 00:05, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is opposite, this site is using text from wikipedia without attribution. --Jklamo 12:49, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Correct...it was lifted from an earlier version a few years back, when I did some work on this article. I don't actually mind, as I think that the meddling done to this article since has added nothing. ChrisRed (talk) 16:30, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Restaurant siege in early 90s[edit]

I visited Prague for the first time in 1993, and remember hearing that the former owner of the restaurant had locked himself inside with explosives after his company went bankrupt, and the police had to wait several weeks for him to eat all the food in the freezers before he gave up. Anyone here know if it's (even partly) true? — FIRE!in a crowded theatre... 01:14, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No source on some parts of the article[edit]

Can anyone give me any links to the source of the rumor, that the tower was planned to be used to jam incoming western radio and television transmissions (particularly Radio Free Europe) and that it had a potential use as a communications facility for Warsaw Pact forces in the event of an attack on (or attack by) NATO? I've lived in Prague for 19 years (and was born there) and I've never heard of this rumor, so I'm afraid it might be just a popular theory or urban legend. In that case, it should be mentioned in the article or removed altogether. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.113.8.138 (talk) 08:42, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
