A primary school (presumably that is what years 1 to 8 refers to; even with 11+ equalling 1st year, a secondary school only reaches the upper sixth form). The one thing perhaps saving it is its age, dating from 1897 which for a school in the colony of New Zealand probably makes it one of the oldest in the country. The policy debate is yet to occur, to my knowledge, but the "rule" has been HS's stay and primaries go. I'd argue for notability. This one might be notable, but the article needs to be rewritten to push the notability. Abstain, hoping for notability. Geogre 15:59, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)

- A policy debate simply has to be started. All we have now is precedent. I'm trying to at least be consistent within my own standards: notable ok, non-notable not, whatever the level. The first elementary school in Australia would be fine. Plan B State College would not, despite being a college. Geogre 13:18, 18 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  - Geogre, with all due respect -- the last thing we need is yet another interminable policy debate. "Keep stuff that's notable" covers schools, bands, conlangs, you name it. Weak keep- early appearance and longevity make it at least somewhat notable. Can someone check if it was, by chance, the first in the region? If so, definitely worth keeping. FZ 19:39, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Clarifying- I meant, if it's notable, such as if it were the first public primary school in the Wellington region, then it should be kept. Does anyone out there have dates on the development of primary education in New Zealand? If it's the first, keep it; otherwise, it's probably not worth it. FZ 14:00, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Delete. Non-notable. Schools are not automatically notable, nor should Wikipedia's inclusion criteria be waived for schools. A school is no more automatically notable than is a person, company, software product, etc. If it isn't notable, it doesn't belong. This is the institutional equivalent of a vanity page.
