1st Duke of Kent? There were no Dukes of Kent before him? -- Zoe

Yes. And No. <G>. The first first Duke of Kent became Duke of Kent in 1710. The numbering is restarted (from 1) each time the dukedom is created. This Duke of Kent is the first duke of the third creation of the title. So there have been three first dukes of Kent<G> -- Someone else 03:30 18 May 2003 (UTC)
um, well. Okay. That's sure clear.  :) -- Zoe
It's all part of a conspiracy to make sure there's no unambiguous way to refer to anyone with a title. At least that's my theory<G>. -- Someone else 03:42 18 May 2003 (UTC)
