Malay wayang kulit[edit]

There's no mention of this whatsoever. I'm not sure what the current state of wayang kulit is in Malaysia, but not mentioning the country at all is a big omission. Wayang kulit (Javanese: ꦮꦪꦁꦏꦸꦭꦶꦠ꧀) is a traditional form of puppet-shadow play originally found in the cultures of Java and Bali in Indonesia. In a wayang kulit performance, the puppet figures are rear-projected on a taut linen screen with a coconut-oil (or electric) light. The dalang (shadow artist) manipulates carved leather figures between the lamp and the screen to bring the shadows to life. They are not "projected" in the sense of a film. The screen is seldom "linen." I think this is an effort to save words, but in the process it loses sense. Conscientia (talk) 01:49, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
