So is Lee the black guy or the white guy? The article is unclear on what is going on with this case. 208.45.79.174

This article asserts that DNA evidence suggested that the suspect was African American. While there are a few halotypes that are prevalent in African populations, so far as I know, race cannot be ascertained from DNA, as race is NOT biological. They're just slight variations in environmental adaptation, which is not quanitifiable as to locale. In other words, it's impossible to discover a suspect's race from DNA evidence, unless they carry a very specific halotype, and even then, that person might be identified as "white" or any other race based on their appearance. Blood types and sickle blood cells might point toward African ancestry, but that is not very conclusive at all. Besides being unclear and having NO citations, this article seems to contain several factual errors. 24.210.223.93

I included these links to help show that it is in fact increasingly possible to dtermine ethnic origin or even appearance from DNA, due to the discovery of single nucleotide polymorphisms, or SNPs. Also, it's haplotypes, not "halotypes," which suggests something to do with salts.165.176.123.2 (talk) 19:24, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, that was the aspect that made me click on the talk page. I think that needs to be rewritten. Bali88 (talk) 22:20, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think he killed someone I knew a long time ago[edit]

I think Todd Lee killed a girl i knew from high school. She was found by her parents as though she was strangled and raped. I have never heard what was the truth. I believe he killed her and I am so sad that her life was lost to the monster. Just about the time that every woman in Baton rouge was buying guns my son had a dream that the serial killer pulled me out of our house and that he could not help me. Oh my gawd he was crying. You see how this man scared every body I want to know more about him Lee Maye —Preceding unsigned comment added by Leebaby99 (talkcontribs) 05:28, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Photos[edit]

are the photos of the victims really appropriate? (or necessary?) none of the other wiki articles on serial killers seem to have pictures of any of the victims...

i think if there is no discussion here in a week i will remove the pictures from the article and flag them for deletion, as they are copyrighted anyway... Default.XBE (talk) 17:37, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not true that none of the other articles have pictures of the victims. A few do, a few don't. It's mostly dependent on what is available. The photos on this article have fair-use rationales for using them and there is no valid reason for removing them except that perhaps you don't like them. Wildhartlivie (talk) 02:43, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
well i just read through the entire Category:American_serial_killers, and this was the only one with photos of any victims, which is why i brought it up, and i thought the way its formatted now looks sloppy (but i dont know much about changing formatting)Default.XBE (talk) 13:13, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it was important to know the race of his victims, since serial killers typically hunt within their racial group and the police in this case had been operating under the mistaken assumption that the killer was white. I don't think it does any injury to these poor women. If anything, it's important that we see what the victims look like so that we can appreciate that they were more than simply names. Why would it be inappropriate?

By the way, there appears to be grafitti at the bottom of the main entry. Basically some cretin writing in exagerrated black slang praising the killer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.27.40.153 (talk) 22:12, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Psychic involved?[edit]

I just saw a TV show that showed how a teacher of a forensics class called in a psychic who announced that the serial killer was a light-skinned black (vs. the white man the police task force was looking for). The info was rejected by the task force, which did not come to the same conclusion until after several more murders had occurred. If this is so, shouldn't that be a part of the article?
