KTLA's inaugural broadcast in 1947[edit]

The article states that a 10-minute segment of KTLA's inaugural program, "The Western Premiere of Commercial Television", is archived at the Paley Center for Media. I am not sure if that is entirely accurate. Kinescope recording was not widely used at the time, and was not perfected until after this program aired. KTLA's owner, Paramount Pictures, had a newsreel crew film the event alongside the TV cameras for a possible newsreel story that was later abandoned. The recording at the Paley Center is most likely that newsreel footage. If possible, a reference to the source of that footage as either kinescope or newsreel would be appreciated.

The CW logo[edit]

Digital Subchannels[edit]

Does anyone know what the digital subchannels for KTLA are? I mean, what is on DT.2, DT.3, and DT.4, since it only lists DT.1 (digital signal for station), and DT.5 (The Tube) on the Los Angeles TV Market template. RaccoonFox • Talk • Stalk 19:38, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing is on the other DT's. The 5.5 is a virtual channel number and actually shows up on 31-2 in the "real" channel space. Calwatch 20:43, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have been wondering the same things about the logos here as well as for other TV pages such as WNYW's page. Historical TV logos are being deleted by User:A Man In Black because he believes they violate policy. Although he claims the issue is settled, there is an ongoing RFC at Wikipedia:Fair use/Historical logos in galleries. Please contribute to this discussion and help determine what to do about this. Possible Sale[edit]

KTLA's license went up for renewal on December 1 and, as of December 25, nothing has happened as far as selling the station is concerned. Can we safely assume that Tribune is keeping KTLA - HG707 17:25, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

KTLA news in HD?[edit]

Somebody has stated that KTLA's news is now in HD effective 1/1/2007; however, I don't think that transition has been made yet.

I've been watching their newscasts lately, and although the picture quality on their digital signal is really good, they only seem to be stretching the image to be ALMOST widescreen 16x9. The newscasts aren't labeled HD, either, and I would expect KTLA to promote this fact loudly and often as soon as it happens. I think the third paragraph in the article should be taken out, at least for now.

It's also misleading to state that "everything" KTLA broadcasts is in HD, because that's just not possible right now, nor will it probably ever be the case. The same is true for KABC-TV, cited in the same paragraph.

Goldwyn studios connection?[edit]

Back in the 70's, KTLA used to show a huge number of Danny Kaye films etc. from Samuel Goldwyn. I really enjoyed this, but also wondered what the connection was, as with CBS and Columbia films. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.68.159.105 (talk) 22:52, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notable alumni[edit]

Notable Alumni- Editors keep removing Ron Olsen's name from the list of notable alumni, even though he was with the station for 22 years and is a multiple award winner. Among other accomplishments, he is one of the station's personnel who were awarded the Peabody for the Rodney King beating story. His professional profile is available on LinkedIn. The reason most recently stated for removal of his name is that he does not have his own wikipedia page to refer to. Half the notable alumni do not have their own wikipedia pages. Many are referred to wikipedia pages for other people, like baseball players with the same names. If having your own wikipedia page is the requirement for notable alumni, then half the notable alumni will have to go. Please get someone who knows something about Southern California media to edit this and other media pages. If you know nothing about the area and are going to edit it anyway, then at least google the name and the tv station and see what pops up before removing someone's name because you are ignorant of their achievements. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lanewsguy (talk • contribs) 15:43, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi- the notable alumni section is for individuals who meet Wikipedia's guidelines for notability. This can be done by creating a Wikipedia page and establishing notability with verifiable and reliable sources- Linkedin is not a reliable source, but if there is proof he won a Peabody, that would certainly help. Certainly the other entries should go if they are not pointing to the correct person, but the argument that other stuff exists is fairly weak. As far as "google the name" is concerned, just because someone exists doesn't mean they are notable. Cheers, tedder (talk) 15:49, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Political donations relevant?[edit]

Hey. "In a 2007 MSNBC.com investigation into partisan journalists and newspersons who donate to political parties and causes, KTLA news writer Diana Chi was found to have donated to the Republican National Committee 19 times between 2002-2006" I fail to see why this is important, although finding it listed under controversies establishes that the post was not from a NPOV.
