Untitled[edit]

Track 12 was missing, I added it. Stevemcl 05:33, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I Love Stone Gossard[edit]

A couple thoughts: 1) I didn't know that MFC stood for Mini Fast Car. You learn something new every day. 2) Is it worth mentioning the hidden yield signs found throughout the liner notes? (207.210.14.75 07:23, 3 April 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Do The Evolution[edit]

Do The Evolution is one of my favorite videoclips, surely it was a single as well, I wonder why is it not listed under the main singles section but it is listed further down in the table? HuggaBounce 00:36, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:PJYield.jpg[edit]

Image:PJYield.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:12, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GAN?[edit]

I don't see what stands between this article and a GA, but -5-, you're probably a better judge of that than I am. Tezkag72 (talk) 13:04, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I will review this article. Basilisk4u (talk) 15:09, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review[edit]

Lead
  • "Following a short tour for its previous album, No Code (1996), Pearl Jam went into the studio in 1997 to record its follow-up." This sentence could be a little more specific. Try "Following a short promotional tour for its previous album, No Code (1996), Pearl Jam recorded Yield throughout 1997 at Studio Litho and Studio X in Seattle, Washington."
  • "...marked a more collaborative effort on composition instead of giving too much work to frontman Eddie Vedder." --> "marked a more collaborative effort from the band as opposed to relying heavily on frontman Eddie Vedder to compose the songs."
  • "The band did more promotion for the album" The band did more promotion than what? Does this mean that the band promoted this album more than No Code? Clarify.
  • The lead could use more detail in general. It would be good to mention that it was Jack Irons last album with the band and explain some lyrical themes discussed in the album. Also, briefly explain where the promotional tours were and which song the band made a music video for.
Recording
  • "For its fifth album, Pearl Jam again worked with producer Brendan O'Brien." Mention how many previous albums O'Brien worked on with the band.
  • The last paragraph that talks about how the band did not work with O'Brien for several years after the album could probably be placed at the end of the first paragraph to maintain continuity.
  • "Compared with Vitalogy and No Code, Yield represented more of a team effort between all members of the group. The band even brought in Wendy Melvoin of Wendy & Lisa to add some guitar on several tracks." These sentences do not seem to be connected because it talks about how the members collaborated within the band, and then it mentions a collaboration with people from another group. "Compared with Vitalogy and No Code, Yield represented more of a team effort between all members of the group. The band also collaborated with Wendy Melvoin of Wendy & Lisa, who played guitar on several tracks." This sentence also needs a source, and you could also mention which songs he played guitar on.
Composition
  • "O'Brien said that the band made a conscious effort 'to really put together the best, most accessible songs they possibly could.'" Not sure if the quote is needed, it could be "O'Brien noted that during the Yield sessions, the band made a conscious effort to create more accessible songs."
  • The quote from Vedder in the second paragraph is extremely long. I think that you could sum it up as "Vedder explained that the songs express positivity as opposed to the band's more angst-ridden previous albums, citing a more mature worldview" and cut out a lot of the actual quote.
  • The third paragraph relies too heavily on quotes. Try paraphrasing them.
Packaging
  • Because this section also discusses the album's title, I think the section should be called "Packaging and artwork"
  • "The cover of the cassette version has slightly different artwork, moving the yield sign from the right of the road to the left side and reversing the picture of the road." I think you could call it a mirror image.
  • "Regarding the liner notes art, there is a yield sign hidden in every picture in the booklet." --> "A yield sign hidden in every picture in the booklet of the liner notes."
Release and reception
  • Looks great :)
Tour
  • "The North American summer tour was a big success" In what way?
References
  • Make sure that all citations have publication information

On hold[edit]

First of all, I am extremely sorry for the delay. I became very busy with midterms and completely forgot about the review. Thanks for reminding me :) I have now put the review on hold for concerns to be addressed. Basilisk4u (talk) 03:04, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It now looks like all of the problems have been fixed! Great work. I am happy to pass the article now. Basilisk4u (talk) 16:09, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

I think Post-grunge should stay in the infobox since this album was made during the "post-grunge era" and it sounds like them trying to recapture their early 90s grunge sound. — Preceding unsigned comment added by I call the big one bitey (talkcontribs) 01:09, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment comment[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Yield (album)/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Comment(s)Press [show] to view →
Start class:
  • Green tickY A reasonably complete infobox
  • Green tickY A lead section giving an overview of the album
  • Green tickY A track listing
  • Green tickY Reference to at least primary personnel by name (must specify performers on the current album; a band navbox is insufficient)
  • Green tickY Categorisation at least by artist and year

C class:

  • Green tickY All the start class criteria
  • Green tickY A reasonably complete infobox, including cover art
  • Green tickY At least one section of prose (in addition to the lead section)
  • Green tickY A track listing containing track lengths and authors for all songs
  • Green tickY A "personnel" section listing performers, including guest musicians.

B class:

  • Green tickY All the C class criteria
  • Green tickY A completed infobox, including cover art and most technical details
  • Green tickY A full list of personnel, including technical personnel and guest musicians
  • Green tickY No obvious issues with sourcing, including the use of blatantly improper sources.
  • Green tickY No significant issues exist to hamper readability, although it may not rigorously follow WP:MOS
Good job! Missing citation in some minute sections I think, but that can be cleared up with a peer review or a GA nom. Overall great stuff! Andrzejbanas (talk) 04:45, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
