Apparent discrepency[edit]

In the stub for Miaoli City, it says the Miaoli name was coined using two words, cat and city. Whereas in the stub for Miaoli County, it says the name Miaoli was coined from the words cat and raccoon. Please clarify. Oil[edit]

should probably mention more on the page somewhere the reason for the Oil Museum being in this county, even if the fields turned out to be uneconomical in the 20th century. — LlywelynII 08:15, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A nonsensical sentence[edit]

I wanted to edit it, but on a second read, I think it makes so little sense, I could ruin it. For one, "where" should be changed to "whereas", but then the whole sentence should be broken apart.
The Taiwanese aborigines constitute about 1.9% of the total population where the rural areas is where the Hokkiens are the main group in western urban areas of Miaoli, while the Hakkas comprise the main group of Han Chinese in the rural southern and central parts of Miaoli county.--Adûnâi (talk) 13:58, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
