I have de-linked most of the names and the election dates from this article because it is very unlikely that anyone will ever write articles about these people and elections. Having a list full of red links does not benefit Wikipedia. I have left some red links in where it seems possible that articles may be written in the future, i.e., relatively recent winning cnadidates for mayor. What is more likely to happen with red links is that they will turn blue when some writes an article about an American football player or British musician with the same name, and then we'll have a misleading link. Of course, if anyone does write articles about these people, they are likely to come to this page in order to create the links in the first place. Kevintoronto 23:15, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I agree that failed candidates are not likely to ever have articles, but I do think it is important that past mayors remain linked. It will take awhile, but I'm sure they will all eventually have articles. - SimonP 00:46, Apr 15, 2005 (UTC)
I tend to agree with you here. --Spinboy 02:19, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I don't see the empty headers pointing to mayors in former municipalities being of much use. Rather they should be listed on the pages of those municipalities. I have already added the one existing list to Osgoode Township, Ontario. Also I don't think a distinction needs to be made between the new and the old city. The city has gone through many amalgamations and the city itself gives out a continuous list. - SimonP 02:35, Apr 15, 2005 (UTC)
If we're not listing it there, then we should at least reference where people can find the former mayors. I didn't realize where you had moved it, you didn't leave it in the notes. --Spinboy 02:39, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I would have added links, but adding a "for a list of mayors in X see here" would be misleading because we do not actually have those lists. Even the Osgoode Township one is only a fragment. - SimonP 03:00, Apr 15, 2005 (UTC)
It may be fragmented, but a link to it is better than nothing. --Spinboy 03:15, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
