Organization[edit]

I don't think it makes sense to have the orgs, schools etc that olin gives to in alphabetical order. They should be ordered by the amount of money olin gives because that's what it considers to be the most important. Just a small observation - the wiki says the foundation closed it's doors in the summer of 2005 but http://www.jmof.org/ says the fall.

What's your source that Olin's still operating, Titanium? There was a lot of publicity when it officially closed its doors in May. Might be better to just say 2005; in the long run, the few months don't make a difference. FRCP11 03:31, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Only $370 in funding disbursed?[edit]

Incomplete and Inaccurate info.[edit]

I was sorely disappointed in the quality, completeness, and accuracy of this article.

You do not mention perhaps the most public recipient of all the foundation's grants: "Firing Line," http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firing_Line , which was syndicated by SOUTHERN EDUCATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATION's public television station SCTV from 1971 through 1999.

Also you list John M. Olin Professor at Fordham University (currently Ernest van den Haag). Professor van den Haag has been deceased for more than a decade.

Olin magazine[edit]

At the end of chapter 7 of Understanding Power, Chomsky mentions "right now the universities are all flooded with Olin Professorship of Free Enterprise, there are glossy right-wing magazines handed out free to every student–and these are not just right-wing, but crazy right-wing". I couldn't tell what this is referring to. The chapter is based on talks in 1989–1994. There is an Olin Business School magazine but that seems very local apart some standard advocacy for deregulation of big industries (example 2017). Worldcat knows of some Olin magazine held at the British Library but it's not clear what that is. Nemo 19:56, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Illogical[edit]

The fund was largely inactive until 1969, when John M. Olin was disturbed by the Willard Straight Hall takeover at his alma mater, Cornell University. At the age of 80, he decided that he must pour his time and resources into preserving the free market system.

There is no logical connectivity between harboring racist displeasure at protests agitating for the creation of a black studies department and trying to preserve the “free market system”, which is conservative propaganda speak for “I refuse to be part of society where my company and I are taxed and regulated and forced to comply with public health safety standards”.
