Vendors and shape[edit]

Are there any retail vendors of this media? I'm having trouble finding them at CompUSA type outlets. - Bevo 17:04, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Is this "bootable business card" actually rectangular? A photograph would be good. The closest I've seen on retail shelves is "Pocket-Size CD-RW Media" (which is circular, but 80 mm, with space for 210MB of data storage or 24 minutes of audio storage -- compared to full-size 120 mm, 700 MB, 80 minute CDs.) My local Office Depot sells them -- search the web site for "CD-R Pocket Spindle" and "pocket-size CD-RW" (should I cut-and-paste the URIs here?). I thought my local Staples also sold those 80 mm CDs, but I can't seem to find them on their web site at the moment.

I find it fairly easy to look at the disk and see how far the real data extends out from the center. In theory, one should be able to cut down any CD to a rectangle or other shape, as long as you don't cut into the data, and you keep the shape balanced across the center hole (so it doesn't vibrate too badly in the drive). But it seems like it would be all too easy to shatter the disk. Any tips? (perhaps score, then snap?) --DavidCary 06:15, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Look here miniCD no pics... I think the DSL homepage has a pic though of the rounded rectangle CD-although one has already been posted of the LinuxCare CD.

The MiniCDs actually run from 50 Mb all the way up to the extended 300 MB versions. The Bussiness card size ones are only available if you purchase them in bulk. The standard memorex ones you can get at staples/Office Depot are 185 MB and 210 MB and are the 80mm ones. You can also get the 50 mm rounded ones. — 146.214.103.251

I updated the IMAGE listing to refer to NTFS-3G instead of Captive NTFS since they apparently switched. (For some wikipedia topics, I'd consider it important to document why they switched, the history, etc. But this is just an external link, so that seems like overkill).
