WikiProject Horror[edit]

I'm not very familiar with this program. But going through the article, is this character (or show) appropriate for WP:HORROR, as it currently listed? Andrzejbanas (talk) 19:09, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Andrzejbanas: I added the character to WP:HORROR as the main program (Charmed) was already added to the project. I am assuming the show was added as it deals with supernatural storylines and demonic and witch characters (in the same way that Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the characters from that show are added to the WP). I can remove it from the WP if you feel it is necessary. Aoba47 (talk) 20:48, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Aoba47:, it's not that I don't think it belongs. It's just that I'm not sure if it belongs as I'm not really familiar with the show. Is the show described as a horror proram? Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:05, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Andrzejbanas: Not really. I could see the early seasons of the show being described as horror (it did receive two International Horror Guild Awards), but I would classify it more as a supernatural program and I am not sure where that falls in relation to the horror genre. The show is also more lighthearted and comedic (especially with this character and seasons) so that's why I am also uncertain about it belong to the WP. Aoba47 (talk) 16:27, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. To make things simple, I like going with Kim Newman's idea on how to decide if something belongs to horror, as he suggests that horror fiction suggests "a world that is scarier or where more bad things happen than you would normally expect". If you think that's appropriate, then let's go for it. If not, then maybe drop the project. Thanks for taking the time to discuss this too btw. :) It is appreciated.Andrzejbanas (talk) 20:39, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for the comment. That is a very good definition to use when assessing these kinds of situations. I think the more comedic nature of the character does not fit the idea of "scary" (even though she was a demon). Aoba47 (talk) 02:04, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
