Native Latin speakers?[edit]

  • Greetings, fellow Latinist. If you have second, please cast your two cents in on the discussion of a category for native Latin speakers who are also Wikipedians. --Flex 13:01, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • I have time, but I will do harm to your cause. I am an inclusionist. Either keep it and add a native category for all languages, or remove the native category entirely, which is misleading and open to many different interpretations, and add a better-worded fifth level of comprehension in its place. --Absit invidia, Aluion 00:35, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings[edit]

Greetings, Aluion. You are the first person I've seen to claim a near-native Klingon language skill. Have you studied it for long? JIP | Talk 10:44, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

(crossposted for readability)
It's the amount of effort I've dedicated to studying it than the length of time.
I'm a closet Trekkie (though sometimes I drift over to the Dark Side and watch Star Wars). Studying languages and communicating in different languages is also one of my favorite pastimes. I also have a soft spot for constructed languages, and have written several pages on the topic.
tlhIngan Hol combines two of my hobbies together, so I'm more intrested in learning it than normal (as I was with Quenya/Sindarin due to my enjoyment of Tolkien's works). Having studied it so much -- the only thing that really keeps me from being a native speaker is birthright. (c;

Since joining Wikipedia recently I have learnt an awful lot, and one of those things is the value of teamwork. It has become increasingly apparent to me that there are absolutely tons of people out there devoted to editing the Scottish articles, but we communicate only haphazardly. To begin to attempt to remedy this, I have initiated a notice board for all Scoto-fans!

You can find it using this shortcut: WP:SCOWNB (yes, I know that it ain't very "short", but our nordic neighbours had first call on WP:SWNB).

Please sign up and post notices, or at least Watch the page.--Mais oui! 15:29, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
