Newcomer patrol?

I've been trying to watch Patricknoddy's edits, and don't feel like adding another person to watch. Would you mind trying to keep an eye on User:Ryanasaurus007's similarly hit and miss edits? Your areas of interest seem to overlap. Sorry about the carpal tunnel--I've got it a bit, but it doesn't seem to be getting worse. Okay, I just went and looked at the article history, and I'm guessing you wanted me to check how many schools there. Checking the list at [2] doesn't actually require one to registered at the site. I parsed the list into separate lines using the school separator " • ", and then did a computer line count, and got 261 schools. —Lowellian (talk)[[]] 11:01, Nov 14, 2004 (UTC)

Peyton Place

I tried to move the pictures in the Peyton Place article so the template would not be left at the end like that. Frankly, I think it looks rather sloppy the way it is now. Can you understand why I moved them where I did?

I agree with you 100%, Mike. I never liked the look of the entry - as I recall, even before I added the pix, the template was "dangling" at the end. Frankly, I don't know if it even needs to be there, but I don't like to edit someone else's project too dramatically, unless the info is totally wrong or outdated. I'm still "feeling my way" here since I'm so new at this. Maybe I'll get bolder as my time here gets longer! In any event, I've redone the layout and it now looks OK. Thanks for writing! P.S. A Question

Sorry, Mike, I thought of this after I signed off on the above. Is there a way to access a list of the categories used in Wikipedia? If so, I haven't figured it out. There are time when I designate a category that seems logical - such as "Theatre actors" or "Broadway actors" - and it comes up red instead of as a link. Article Licensing

Hi, I've started the Free the Rambot Articles Project which has the goals of getting users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to...

1. ...all U.S. state, county, and city articles...
2. ...all articles...

using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) version 1.0 and 2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to the GFDL (which every contribution made to Wikipedia is licensed under), but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles (See the Multi-licensing Guide for more information). Since you are among the top 1000 most active Wikipedians, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles.

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the {{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}} template (or {{MultiLicensePD}} for public domain) into their user page, but there are other templates for other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1

I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:

OR

Option 2

I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions to any [[U.S. state]], county, or city article as described below:

Soap opera

From what I know, The Guiding Light was a religious program on radio which used soap opera to enlighten us as to how to live a good life. When it migrated to TV, they broadcast the same stories on both mediums. Somewhere along the line it became a standard soap opera and lost its The. RickK 05:03, Nov 29, 2004 (UTC)

I'm an on-again/off-again viewer. I was more on-again at that time and, while I personally enjoyed it, I remember hearing a lot of fans at the time who were upset. Whether it was or was not is a matter of opinion. It may be widely shared, but to be encyclopedic, it must be included in a way which treats it as an opinion and is clear that it isn't necessarily universally held. I have no problem with "generally," if there is some sort of basis of proof of that. Can you cite a poll or some other basis for that statement? Otherwise, my experience does not agree with yours. What I will do (and think could be an acceptable compromise in the absence of a foundation for it being "generally" held), is change it to read "by many fans." In reviewing your change, I realise that I was speaking of a different era than you. I'm still not happy with "generally," because I think it's over-reaching, but I'll leave it as is. But perhaps you could clarify. "Generally regarded" by whom? Certainly not the general public (a large proportion of whom wouldn't have an opinion about anything related to One Life to Live)...even fans is problematic, because many younger fans will not have seen that era...but if you want to keep "generally," I think it would be best to say "generally regarded by..." and include that qualification. Thanks for the Dick Van Patten. I was thinking that it was odd he didn't have an article, but facing a blank page was too much for me. I'm sure I'll be able to add a bit to it. (I just saw him in November at the New York City Opera in Cinderella (as the king, opposite Renee Taylor's queen. He was pretty awful, but I'm blaming the director<g>. In the same production, Lypsinka was fabulous as the stepmother, and Ana Gasteyer and Lea Delaria were .... interesting.... as the stepsisters! - Nunh-huh 04:42, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
