Pronunciation of 'Bataan'[edit]

My high school English teacher (1954, a long time ago) was on the Bataan Death March. Fortunately he survived it to teach me.

But he pronounced 'Bataan' with a glottal stop: "Bata'an", which he stated to me on several occasions was correct. And I always thought that, having been through all that, he must have been right.

Do we have any independent information about this? If he was right, then there should be some information about how to pronounce this name in the article (an Ogg_Vorbis, or an IPA entry). If not, then "nevermind". Bill Jefferys (talk) 03:06, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Bataan Peninsula article is completely superfluous since it is synonymous with the province. Everything said about the peninsula can be added to the geography section of the province. P 1 9 9  ✉ 18:25, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • True. The province is nearly contiguous with the peninsula (except for portions of Hermosa and Dinalupihan which extend into the mountainous border between Olongapo and Pampanga). Im good with merging the two articles.--RioHondo (talk) 18:46, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
