I think that this discussion properly belongs here on the talk page rather than in the main article: Onebyone 01:37, 17 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Although van de Velde gained international repute, today he is virtually unknown in encyclopædias and on the Internet (according to a search in Dec. 2003). Google gives one reference to a Polish lexicon. The net version of Encyclopædia Britannica does not mention him; nor does the Swedish Nationalencyklopedin. Wikipedia up to this article (Dec. 2003) has no mention of him (not even the Dutch version). Remarkably, the man simply does not exist in common knowledge.

One may ask why. Theodoor Hendrik van de Velde certainly deserves recognition as an early advocate for knowledge and sensuality in erotic life.
