title of this article should rather be List of bus transport companies[edit]

Dear Wikipedians, I think the title of this article should rather be List of bus transport companies or so. The actual list is somewhat misleading: e.g. Ikarus is listed in Hungary - but Ikarus used to be a bus manufacturer and did not operated buses. In Hungary the biggest bus company had been Volán, now privatised and the actual companies use different names reflecting their regional interest such as Heves Volán, Tisza Volán. I hope you will accept my remarks.

New stub mark[edit]

If possible, could all bus-related articles using {{sectstub}} have it changes to {{bus-section-stub}}?--sonicKAI 13:31, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Direction of this article[edit]

As much as I'm a transport fan of all modes (Bus, Train, etc), this would look like a prod candidate considering the many companies in the world which would most likely make it hard to maintain and I was considering prodding it myself. But before going any further, I'd have to ask to the regular contributors of this article, what is the point of this article? Wouldn't categories be a better fit for bus transit companies world wide? (maybe even split by continent, into a master category). --Arnzy (talk contribs) 23:59, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bullocks[edit]

Seem to now call themselves simply Bullocks Coaches. -- RHaworth 17:06, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes they do - picture, but it is only recent: picture, that bus was new in 2004. Fotopic gallery picutres came from. -- Arriva436 18:32, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Note to self: Finglands Coachways of Rusholme are covered here under East Yorkshire Motor Services. -- RHaworth 18:54, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ex-Bus operators[edit]

Does anyone know of an article of a list of old bus operators? -- Arriva436 18:32, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of bus operators in the UK[edit]

Someone recently got rid of the companies in the list that were owend by larger groups, such as Southern Vectis, owned by Go-Ahead. I don't think this is a very good idea because these companies have totally different trading names to their parent company. Also, if someone with little knowlege of buses got to this page and were looking for Southern Vectis to find out more information, they are not likely to click on Go-Ahead, and happen to scroll down the page and there find Southern Vectis. But obviously listing companies as "Arriva North East", "Arriva North West & Wales" is stupid.

Someone also recently added a load of bus companies who don't exist, one who sold out to First last year, and "Enviro buses", Enviros are a type of bus, not an operator. This needs to be made clearer. -- Arriva 436 18:50, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redlinks[edit]

Oh well, it was obviously a pointless exercise trying to stop this article becoming a wishlist of absolute crap. I only hope the redlink lovers like creating articles, although as I actually suspect, they don't and never will. MickMacNee (talk) 18:47, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redlinks 2017[edit]

I have just removed many redlinks and a handful of external links. This article already attracts spam, but without reliable sources, there is no way to know whether or not these companies even exist, much less whether or not they are notable. It's incredibly difficult to assess the notability of a company based on a redlink, and a single source usually isn't much better, so WP:WTAF seems like the way to go for this list. List of bus opearting companies-India[edit]

Many Government bus operators in India donot have their wiki page.So if I add to the article 'List of bus operating companies' ,then a guy named 'Isigness' is removing that.He is a Canadian staying far away from India and doesn't know about buses in India, but still be is poking his nose.Trying to be oversmart. Asianchamp2 (talk) 05:27, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I removed them. If they don't have articles, please refrain from adding them (until they do). Ajf773 (talk) 08:01, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese articles[edit]

An editor just listed a horde of Japanese bus operating companies, most with Japanese wikipedia articles. What do we do with foreign language articles? My preference is to only include English ones. Ajf773 (talk) 17:27, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
