Article deletion[edit]

As a new Wikipedia, you likely aren't familiar with the Deletion policy. I encourage you to read it over. The deletion of articles is never a fun task. Please understand that if some people call an article you've written into question, they are not trying to attack you personally. Also, part of the deletion process is the use of deletion messages, put on candidate pages. If a page has a deletion message, that does not mean that it will definitely be deleted. It merely means that some Wikipedians aren't sure that it belongs in the Wikipedia. It is an invitation for you to defend the article's existence.

Removing deletion messages is heavily frowned upon. I realize that you may not be familiar with this, so that's why I'm letting you know now. You have removed the deletion tag from Praxis of 2636. Please realize that it's considered bad form to remove the message while a decision is in process.

Stop removing the tag, please. If the consensus on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion is to keep the article, the notice will be removed by an admin. Removing the message beforehand will not prevent the article from being considered for deletion.

If you remove the tag repeatedly then your actions will be reported as vandalism. The end result will likely be a 24-hour period in which you will be blocked from editing pages. Please do not make this necessary — simply leave the deletion message on the page for the time being. Instead, improve the article and defend it on the VfD discussion, keeping Wikiquette and civility in mind. Regards, • Benc • 19:52, 13 Sep 2004 (UTC)
