Role of AMP in AMP-activated kinase[edit]

I already added a section for this and had a brief start on the topic. Does anyone have any concerns? Question: what is dAMP?

I thought adenosine monophosphate was a ribonucleotide?

I think dAMP stands for deoxyadenosine monophosphate, which would be adenosine monophosphate attached to deoxyribose ring; making it the 'A' base in the genetic code. --Shastrix 17:53, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are the mass and formula def. both right. I think it only has 14 Hydrogens when the O- of the phosphate is protonated. The formula drawn, i think, has only 13 hydrogens and a mass of 346.

Renaming of Vitamin B8[edit]

17-Aug-2008: (7 months later) I agree, it was ultra-bizarre to link "Vitamin B8" and get this nose-bleed esoteric chemistry article. I will try to change/simplify, but it's more proof that Wikipedia has become/remains so spastic, with peculiar articles, and obvious evidence that only a relatively few people really keep WP balanced. I can't tell you the dozens of "too-technical" articles I have modified, and the feeling is that WP is totally mismanaged (no offense please), unable to focus writer efforts into valuable articles: why aren't vitamin articles already polished from years ago? 17-Aug-2008: Okay, I added alternate name "vitamin B8" plus a paragraph for general readers, above the get-a-life chemistry text (which had been the whole article). I sense that chemists are front loading Wikipedia with numerous tech articles, the way astronomy buffs put 1,902 articles about the 173,100 numbered asteroids in the solar system: dear God, it's still a Wack-opedia, but thanks for any general text you can provide. -Wikid77 (talk) 10:31, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
