Category:Individual computers[edit]

I'm not actually sure off hand - this is the first I've seen of that category. I think it's meant to be for single (I guess that's what's meant by "individual") computers, i.e. those where only one was built. There were several models of VAX systems, and a lot were sold, so if that counts as an 'individual computers' then so would IBM PCs and so on. — Kate | Talk 19:16, 2004 Aug 20 (UTC)

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Daily Radar[edit]

varieties of rice[edit]

Actually, the varieties of rice I added to List of rice varieties are sold by many different manufacturers under several brand names (for example, this Google search for Calrose rice). They can be found on one or more of the following sources: the California Rice Commission website, the California Rice Research Board website, and the UC Davis Rice Project website. Poultry[edit]

I removed poultry from the dove and pheasant page because it is inaccurate. I would not object to the label for Rock Dove or Common Pheasant, but there are 300 species of dove and sevarl dozen of pheasant, the vast majority of which are not used as poultry, and many of which are rare or protected by legislation. IBM, ASC[edit]

Done per your request. I think there is value in all the ASCI article titles identifying their vendor, but no matter. There is some confusion you might be able to help with. The other articles are, as I recall, are all ASCI. The one renamed is ASC and the text references a program for which ASC looks to be a reasonable abv. However, there is a redirect page, ASCI purple, to the ASC page. Is this machine both, or is ASC, or ASCI, wrong? Thanks, tooold 02:44, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do stand corrected. I've corrected both P.A. Semi and PWRficient articles accordingly, and included the 603Q into my upcoming article about the PowerPC 600 family (User:Henriok/PowerPC 600). I'm sorry but I don't think I can get the Microprocessor Report issues you suggested but I sure want to. If you can dig out more information about any of these processors I'd be very interested. ANDES[edit]

Hello! I am working on an article about the MTI R10000 and planning to merge Architecture with non-sequential dynamic execution scheduling into the larger article, when I noticed you made this edit, claiming that ANDES is a marketing buzzword. I agree that it is not a technical term, but if memory serves me right, is ANDES not a fancy name for the R10000's microarchitecture rather than a buzzword for out of order execution? Thanks. Thanks for your reply. In reply at my talk page, you said that the evidence that supported ANDES being a name for the R10000 microarchitecture was not very clear. By chance, I found this article, which states, "The chip's architecture has been dubbed ANDES, Architecture with Non-Sequential Dynamic Execution Scheduling." Multithreading[edit]

Hello,

I see you wrote the Multithreading article. I read a sentence in "block multithreading" that I believe not to be clear:

It appears to each thread that it is executing alone and not sharing any hardware resources with any other threads. This minimizes the amount of software changes needed within the application as well as the operating system to support multithreading.

As far as the OS is concerned, it is like SMPs, except there are more thread placement optimizations. For the application, I don't see what it simplifies, since there are still concurrent threads executing, as in SMPs and every other multithreading type, and the same cache sharing as in SMT and interleaved multithreading.

Should I change the sentence, or am I wrong in some way ?
