I have removed the "this article should be moved to Gullivers Travels" notice, as there is no apparent reason for doing so, and several good reasons to retain it as a stand-alone article - not least of which is the usefulness of being able to include it in Category:Fictional countries, which serves as an invaluable literary cross-reference. --Centauri 05:52, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)

South Pacific?[edit]

This article claims that the islands are in the South Pacific, but this map, from the 1726 edition, seems to indicate it would be in the Indian Ocean, as Sumatra is in the upper-right-hand corner. If no-one objects I shall revise the sentence. Adso de Fimnu 19:49, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As the map indicates, mainland Australia was barely known to Europeans at this point. The map puts Tasmania far closer to Sumatra than it actually is. As the text says, however, that general area (which is larger than the map shows) is actually occupied by mainland Australia. I don't know whether you can say it is Pacific or Indian, as Australia has a coast in both.--Jack Upland (talk) 06:45, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

More info needed[edit]

The thing is I'm doing a project on Lilliput for we went there (it was some place in Armagh) on a school tour. I have looked on most web sites and have found nothing. It's just all stories of the book with really none of the info that is important. Please will you put better, interesting, more important information. Thank you very much

Where did someone get the information that Dr. Seuss' _Butter Battle Book_ is a retelling of this story? If it has a reference, than put it down... if not, remove it. I find more parallels in that work to nuclear standoff situations in much more modern times, and I am wondering if someone actually has information that Dr. Seuss actually referred to Swift's work or whether it is completely unrelated.

Bad section: History and politics[edit]

What would be needed at that point: a discourse making a sketch of Gulliver's Travels. What instead occurs in section History and politics: an unsourced comparison of 1900th c. politics with Gulliver's Travels; this might constitute WP:OR at the risk of also introducing WP:SYNTH, unless the section can be attributed to external analysts (secondary sources). Helicopter ??[edit]

The word helicopters in from 1800's and the fist prototypes were made in 1930's. Leonardo invented a dysfunctional helicopter in 1500's.
