Death toll[edit]

Article Super Outbreak states 23 as the number of dead in Guin after the tornado. This article states 30.--Húsönd 03:53, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll have to go back and dig through some family archives, but I believe 23 is the correct total. GeofFMorris 22:08, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Húsönd 22:25, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Death toll confirmed at 23. This storm formed at the MS/AL state line at 8:50 PM and devastated Guin,AL at 9:21PM. Mail from the town was found as far away as Huntsville,AL. This was the first time in history that a class F5 tornado had been sound recorded. This was accomplished by Alan Lindley using a cassette recorder as the killer approached his family's home. The recording was loaned to military/weather service for a time. As a memorial, the local radio station located in Winfield,AL played the recording on the anniversary of the disaster. It was as if it was happening afresh (both exciting and frightening).CaptKman1 (talk) 16:16, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

30 out of 2,300 is 1.3% ... 23 out of 2,300 1%. Definately not 11% of the population.<b\>
