Do we need a citation for a calendar calculation?[edit]

The note about his death being "generally accepted" as 589 may need a citation, but the "citation needed" flag appears to be on the statement that 1 March 589 was a Tuesday, which is a simple mathematical fact about the Julian calendar that can be readily checked any number of ways. It seems odd to require documentation for such a thing. If the Welsh somehow presaged Pope Gregory's new calendar 1000 years early and made 1 March 589 a Sunday, that would indeed require a citation.. Markjreed (talk) 12:16, 1 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Looking into it, it seems that 589 is but one of several dates, another favourite is 601, but nothing is certain; looking at the wording, it appears that someone felt that saying that he was born on a Tuesday would therefore fix the year as 589, and someone else appropriately queried this. typo for "Calixtus"[edit]

Done @Deacon Vorbis: It was a mis-spelling of Pope Callixtus II in the infobox who was listed in the "canonized_by =" field. In most of these cases the mis-spelling is setup as a redirect to the correct article. I just simply replaced the incorrect spelling (Pope Calixtus II) which is a redirect with the correct article title & spelling Pope Callixtus II. @Alucard 16: Are you sure though? My point was that if you actually look at that page, almost every use except the actual title and the first mention uses one L rather than 2. I was unsure as well until I clicked on the wiki-link for Pope Calixtus II and realized it kept redirecting to Pope Callixtus II so I just chalked it up to a mis-spelling. Alucard 16_{❯❯❯ chat?} 07:09, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How did David become the patron saint?[edit]

How, and when, did St David become adopted as the patron saint of Wales? This seems to me to be a fundamental piece of information that is missing from the article. FreeFlow99 (talk) 17:20, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wales and Patron saint disappoint too. Catholic Encyclopedia says a patron is "one who has been assigned by a venerable tradition, or chosen by election". The later statement "An authentic catalogue of patron saints of countries of the world has yet to be made" makes election seem the less likely. Sparafucil (talk) 10:26, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Canonisation date[edit]

What does "David was officially recognised at the Holy See by Pope Callixtus II in 1120" mean? Elsewhere it is stated that he was canonised in 1123. Does this refer to something different or is the year incorrect? 195.213.169.161 (talk) 15:58, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
