I don't agree that the OLD M-14 article should be merged with the M-14 article -- they are two separate highways. For those unaware, there is an actual state trunkline routing with the official (albeit internal to MDOT) designation of "OLD M-14." It is not posted along the route, as OLD M-14 is a trunkline which MDOT hopes to turn back to a local jurisdiction in the future. Until that time, it is still maintained as a state trunkline highway and designated "OLD M-14." (This is not the actual name of the road -- that would be Plymouth Rd and Ann Arbor Rd -- it is the actual state trunkline designation.)

I would suggest retitling this article to "OLD M-14 (Wayne County, MI)" as the official (though, unsigned) designation for this highway is "OLD M-14." I'm still a newer contributor and am not sure what the process for retitling an article entails... CBessert 04:43, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

There should be a "move" link at the top of the article, to the right of history. As for the capitalization, should it be Old or OLD? --SPUI (talk) 04:54, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thanks SPUI for the heads-up on what now appears to be a very obvious tab up there... I need to spend more time learning some of the specifics around here! As for the capitalization, it's a combination of two things. First, my own personal convention is that all route designations (at least those based in the U.S.) involve only capital letters and numerals, like "US-1" and "BUS US-1" and "ALT US-1," except when these designations are being listed in "longhand," such as "Business US-1" and "Alternate US-1." It also helps, in my opinion, separate an "official" route designation (e.g. "OLD M-14") from what might be a proper street name (e.g. "Old M-14"). Second, the all-caps method seems to also be used by MDOT for the most part—such as "CONN" for "Connector." Anyone care to comment on the all-caps vs. mixed-case method or should I default to my own conventions? CBessert 05:03, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm. Typically stuff is written out in full here, like "and" instead of "&" in railroads, and "Business" instead of "BUS" for highways. I'd recommend using "Old", but I have no strong feelings either way. --SPUI (talk) 13:45, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
