This system is already in use, so I decided it should be documented. It is very quick and easy to convert to other older systems such as fn/fnb (Wikipedia:Footnote2) or an/anb ref/note (Wikipedia:Footnote3) if there aren't duplicate notes. This means that I am happy if people test this out since we can get rid of it quickly if it turns out to be a mistake. Mozzerati 21:35, 2005 Apr 12 (UTC)

Technical problems[edit]

It seems that, when used in Wikipedia, this template eats section breaks, but not when used in my own installation of WikiMedia 1.4beta6. Does anyone have a suggestion?

note template[edit]

Is mnb supposed to be used with note? It looks like there may be some unedited cut-and-paste in the project page, so the definitions are not clear. (SEWilco 05:05, 7 May 2005 (UTC))[reply]

fn_[edit]

Are mnb and mn supposed to be using IDs beginning with fn_ or should they use their own namespace? (SEWilco 05:09, 7 May 2005 (UTC))[reply]

Absorbed in Footnote3[edit]

This is basically being absorbed into Wikipedia:Footnote3. The concepts are indeed needed, due to various MediaWiki characteristics. I found enough situations which needed this labeled-footnote ability that I created {{ref_num}} and {{ref_label}}, which effectively replace {{mn}} and {{mnb}}. I'll have SEWilcoBot convert the articles soon from mn/mnb to equivalent Footnote3 forms. (SEWilco 8 July 2005 23:21 (UTC))
