I'm deleting the links to captainn.net and it's forum on the grounds that while the site was inspired by this show, it has very little to do with the actual show and adds no additional info to what is on here.

Ok, a couple of mistakes :

  • 1. Mother Brain from the original Metroid does have a face. It's just not the face from Captian N.
  • 2. There is no Castlevania from the Castlevania games. The castle was Dracula's Castle and is nowhere (that I'm aware of) that it is referred to as "Castlevania".

In regards to CaptainN.net in terms of pure Captain N information, information on both the television and comic book series can be found in its Captain N sector. This information includes comic book scans, transcripts, screenshots, and so on and so forth. While the entire site is not about Captain N, the site is.

There was a similar show later...[edit]

There was a similar show a couple of years later, only it was based on Sega characters, and the main character was a tomato with a green mohawk... although I can't think of any Sega games with a tomato with a green mohawk. Can someone please refresh my memory as to what show this is? (edit: and I know it wasn't Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes, which I do remember, and had a completely different style to it... this mystery show I'm thinking of had a lot of gritty urban and industrial backgrounds and it wasn't really as light-hearted as Captain N) --I am not good at running 21:46, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think that show was called Video Power, and the tomato was just one of a group of heroes. Unfortunately, I didn't recognize a single one of them.
Just to note: The animated segment of Video Power wasn't based (at least not entirely) around Sega characters. I'm pretty sure that the warrior was from (or implied to be from) an NES game, and the tomato wasn't their main character.

List of Games[edit]

Should there be a list of games that were mentioned/referenced in the show. Tetris and Baiyou Billy were actually a couple of instances and some of these were pretty weird (and fun). I've also been making references of these games and linking to this page (with approapriate info so people will understand why the links are there).

Fandom[edit]

I don't personally think that the fandom section adds anything (as the websites mentioned are linked and the date of the beginning of a Captain N fan site is inconsequential), and the person who created this section is quite aware of other Captain N fan sites that he neglects to even mention. New Stills[edit]

Considering the DVD will be released in the near future, if it's possible could someone be able to update the low quality stills in the article with more suiting pictures? Mother Brain sounds like the plant from the Rock Horror Picture Show! And Mega Man's voice is so stupid he's not even blue, he looks more like Bubble Man! Bassium!

Game Boy or Gameboy?[edit]

Throughout the article, the character based on the Game Boy is spelled as either Game Boy or Gameboy. Can anyone verify which is correct, and then make sure the article is consistent? -Joltman 11:49, 19 April 2007 (UTC) Captain N: The Game Master[reply]

According to the title of the episode that introduces the character, it's "Gameboy". That's what most of the fandom uses, anyway. However, going by episode titles, another character's name would be spelled "Megaman", but most of the fandom spells it "Mega Man". I'm not sure which way to go with this. Parody of Captain N[edit]

Kevin Keene - "The Varsity letter (the "N") on his jacket is for swimming."[edit]

Current revision says of Kevin Keene that "The Varsity letter (the "N") on his jacket is for swimming." -- this sounds implausible (surely "Nintendo"), but I have no sources to back me up and am unwilling to go on a priori reasoning. In the Episode "The Big Game", Rick Walker (one of the football players from North Ridge) identifies Kevin as a member of the junior varsity swim team for that high school. Presumably he got the letter from there. Incidentally the letter would actually be the first initial of the high school. I don't have any other sources than that. It's common sense that the N on the jacket stands for his highschool. Before he was called captain N and entered the gameworld, Do you recall he had the jacket before he entered the world. It's in every intro episode of the show. You don't need sources to source that. The captain N/captain Nintendo part is probably the gimmick part of that. Differences between show and games[edit]

Should some note be made about the fact that it was written largely by people unfamiliar with the source material and often would depict characters that look almost nothing like there original (Mega Man and Simon Belmont). Despite the fact that the main villain is the motherbrain nothing else appears from the Metroid game and when asked why the main writer said they new nothing about the game that "she" was from. Other Characters[edit]

No one mentioned Ganon in the other characters field which he should be. Their are others mentioned who only appeared in 1 episode just as Ganon had. He's the main villian/archenemy of Link. So whoever did that section left that out. majinsnake (talk) 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Princess of Videoland[edit]

In Lana's bio, it states that she rules over all of the lands of Videoland. That's pretty much been the assumption in the fandom for the past 19 years. The name of the universe is Videoland. Statements on the show confirm this (as does the grossly inaccurate map of Videoland seen in the Season 1 intro and "The Big Game"). However, the DVD release contains excerpts from the production bible, and Lana's home world is stated to be "Videoland" (on par with Castlevania for Simon, Megaland for Mega Man, and Mount Icarus for Kid Icarus). Her home world is never mentioned by name on the show (though the Palace of Power is situated on a larger world of some sort). The information that the world itself is called Videoland and part of a larger universe also called Videoland (analogous to New York, New York) raises an interesting possibility. Could Lana be merely the ruler of her own home world, not of the entire universe? It certainly make a lot more sense, and it explains the general lack of recognition by other-worlders. Thoughts? Batman and Robin[edit]

I personally don't see how Kevin mentioning Batman and Robin in one episode points to Wombatman being a parody. I mean sure it's pretty evident that it is a parody, mentioning Batman isn't the missing tell all evidence of this. I added a new section "Broadcast History" listing the channels this show aired on in the USA. Here is what I added: Broadcast History: NBC(1989-1992)
Syndication (1992-1994)*
Family Channel(1993-1996)
USA Network (1995-1998)* as "Captain N and the Video Game Masters".
Someone, though, has several times changed the Syndication and Changes Section to say it was played on Disney Channel & Cartoon Network from 1994-2002. Syndication section errors[edit]

In regards to the "Captain N & The Video Game Masters" syndication package, the article states:

Season 1 episodes were time-compressed to fit in the SMB3 airings. This is impossible, since any given Season 1 episode is 20+ minutes long. It never aired with the Mario 3 episodes.

Season 2 and 3 episodes aired in their original speed. Wrong. I recently did some episode comparisons. Season 2 episodes were indeed time-compressed (both on The Family Channel and in the VGM package), and so were Season 3 episodes.Tuxedo Mark (talk) 03:33, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disagreed - it was a typical thing of it's era, i.e. a not-even-almost faithful to the source-material "series" essentially only made as an extended, continuous, commercial for the products sold by Nintendo of america. It is blatantly obvious that the writers - really, anyone on the team - had no idea of the source-material (given the portrayal of characters in the series, one would be forgiven for thinking that they literally hadn't even so much as seen the boxart for most of the videogames, except possibly the north american box "art" for the original Mega Man), the production values are incredibly low, the animation is beyond sub-par even for the era etcetera etcetera - this was not on any account a good show, and the article should reflect that in some way (preferably a "reception" section), as it now looks like it's been written by some incredibly in-denial fanboy who is doing his or her best to make the show look as good as possible for... I don't know, being bribed by NOA? Unnecessary Information in Voice Actor Section[edit]
