to what extent can the architecture be called socialist realist? I was always told that it is "Stalinist architecture". Although most of the buildings listed include socialist realist sculptures, I'm not sure if they can actually be called socialist realist architecture??? Mozzerati 17:56, 2004 Dec 19 (UTC)
- I'm not sure about the English usage, but in Poland the Soc-realism is usually described as a style of its own, much like baroque or renaissance. Thus it includes all types of art, from painting to sculpture and from poetry to architecture.
- As to the architecture - it is a mixture of monumentalism with some decorative elements. If you are still living in Warsaw - just take the tube and go to Plac Konstytucji - that's one of the most notable examples of Soc-Realism in Warsaw. - Another idea: how about moving this gallery to commons? The commons have upgraded to a newer version of wiki and create quite decent galleries automatically, with all pics being the same size... check my personal gallery there to see what I mean. I was always sure that the original of the sculpture stands in Tretyakov Gallery, not "in the United Nations". Can you controvert my point of view? :) Loony-bean 15:11, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
