Nationmaster[edit]

Compare http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Music-of-Croatia with Music of Croatia. There is no mention of Wikipedia on that page, nor on the main page. Has anyone discussed this with them? RickK 00:11, Feb 26, 2005 (UTC)

Go to a Nationmaster copy of an article you are the primary author of and leave a message in the bottom form. And/or send them feedback. Choose 'Legal' as the message type. I just did this. IIRC, they were in compliance before (although the compliance text was tiny). --mav 04:21, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, I did that. They do say on one of their pages, buried away in inconspicuous links, that some of their material is derived from Wikipedia. RickK 06:06, Feb 26, 2005 (UTC)

On the same topic; I have edited nation master:

remove this:

  • link to current version of article
  • link to the GFDL on www.gnu.org

since they no longer provide these (and other updates)

remove the following

Their terms also state "You may not use any robot, spider or any automated or manual device to monitor or copy any aspect of this site (including content) without the NationMaster.com prior permission". This is an additional restriction on copying and distribution, and is expressly forbidden under the GFDL.

The reason is that this could be interpreted not as a limit on copying, but as a limit on the use of their servers which _is_ permitted separately from limits on what you do with the data once you have it. Please note that Wikipedia limits the use of bots.

magicaljourneys.com[edit]

i would like to inform that also other articles are copied on this website, e.g. Alexanderplatz http://www.magicaljourneys.com/Germany/germany-interest-berlin-alexanderplatz.html or Potsdamer Platz http://www.magicaljourneys.com/Germany/germany-interest-berlin-potsdamer.html. Also some pictures are used in an illegal way e.g. Image:Berlin-potsdamer-platz.jpg which is licensed with GFDL. The images by me in their article about Alexanderplatz are partly okay, my name appears when you move the mouse over the middle picture. it is okay for me. --BLueFiSH  22:33, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Metaweb[edit]

The entry for Metaweb is no longer correct. The site is now owned by a commercial spinoff of Applied Minds. They don't maintain a Wikipedia mirror, but their project at freebase.com is a partial mirror, sort of. I'd edit the article myself, but I've done a little contract work for Metaweb, and so should disqualify myself under WP:COI. Thanks, William Pietri 03:41, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The page represents a clone of Wikipedia and is not yet in this list. Examples:
