Corolla years[edit]

I agree with the person below me. I think they should probably be grouped by generation, then where the market is, then what years they were produced. Japan has many variants, but few are described.

Also, a website alljapanesecars.com has pictures of every Corolla, post-TE72.

Made a few corrections Asteroid2C 10:57, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[edit]

I've made a few corrections.

E80 series: Removed reference to Holden Nova as it is not relevant to the E80, only the E90 and E100 series. (http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehicle/vehicles.php?make=HOLD&family=PSNOVA&year=19898)

Corrected the 1C diesel engine entry as diesel engines do not use carburetors - the 1C uses mechanical injection. (Toyota 1C, 2C, 2C-T engine repair manual August 1985. Part number RM025E)

Corrected Australian E86 entry as it is RWD and available as a 2 door coupe or 3 door hatch like the European version. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_AE86_Sprinter_Trueno)

E110 Series: Corrected the Japan 2.2l diesel engine entry. It is a 3C-E, and uses EFI. (http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/toyota/corolla/1998_4/ )

As for adding information on the Japanese domestic models, I might be able to help. However information on these is quite scarce making it difficult to verify. Auto Vladovostok (http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/toyota/corolla/) has a very large catalogue of information on the Japanese domestic models, unfortunately it doesn't have much further back than the E90 series. I am also reasonably familiar with the Japanese diesel models as they are fairly common here in Australia (I own a CE100 myself). If the regulars here don't mind i can try to add what i can on these models.

Page vandalism[edit]

It seems as though the Wikipedia page is being actively vandalized with false information, the latest being an image of a GR86 being used as the header image and labeled as a 2025 Corolla hatchback hybrid. I strongly suggest locking down the page so that no one except trusted member can edit it. 2601:602:B00:71C1:8DC7:9C34:4D81:FCE7 (talk) 18:22, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Updating the header picture[edit]

i think we should update the header picture to the 2024 corolla hatchback or/and sedan. The current one has the 2019 corolla hatchback on it. 152.58.19.214 (talk) 07:58, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing wrong with an image of the 2019 Corolla. See WP:CARPIX where it says "The image selected for an article's top (lead) infobox does not need to show any particular version or generation of the vehicle, such as the latest, the last, the first, the best-selling, or any other."  Stepho  talk  08:01, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, didn't know they have a guide for uploading images of cars. But it's alright if we still do update it to the latest isnt it? Also seeing the caption '2019' corolla doesn't seem relevant/latest, so I think I'll do that.
Btw I know that 2019 corolla isn't much different on the outside than the latest one, but I love the corolla, and didn't like the almost 5 year old picture been displayed on it's wiki page. AnalyserOP (talk) 09:29, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The guide does not rule out using the latest generation. But neither does it say that the latest generation is preferred. If a new image is selected then it must be at least as good quality as the existing image. And somebody can change it later to another image of an older generation (assuming it is also at least as good quality). Let me say it one more time - there is no preference for the latest and greatest generation. Also see WP:RECENTISM.  Stepho  talk  22:55, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I get it, it's a general representation rather than depiction of the latest model. Thanks for explaining it, I won't upload it coz I realised the quality of the picture I have is not that good(or can you review it? Here it is https://w.wiki/8arZ). I will wait for a better quality picture.
Also, I'm new and want to start editing, can you adopt me or like help me with things?
Sorry if I'm asking too much AnalyserOP (talk) 06:00, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
2019 Corolla - blue
2024 Corolla - grey
Sure, no problem if you want help learning how to use WP. Ask anytime on my talk page (click on the little "talk" in my sig).
Your link took me the grey image above. And I've put the page's current blue image on the left side of it. Now, if you didn't know which was the current generation, which would you choose as a better image to represent the page? Would you choose the nicely framed image, with a colour that stands out from the background? Or the car with the corner cut off and the same colour as its cluttered background.  Stepho  talk  08:07, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
yeah you're right, I'm sorry I was a little overexcited by the idea that my picture would be used on a wikipedia page for the whole world to see but didn't think about my picture itself. I regret my decision to start this discussion that wasted your time. Sorry once again. I will wait for a better picture and ask to review it that time.AnalyserOP (talk) 08:52, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. It's not a waste if we learn something. And enthusiasm is always welcome.
And now you have an idea of what type of photo we are looking for, so you can take better photos for us :)  Stepho  talk  10:00, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
