I removed this external link:

We don't normally link to other encyclopaedias -_^. More seriously, this isn't a web site about Citium or related to Citium in any particular way. We might fill all of our articles with links to other encyclopaedias' articles, but the other links will be much clearer if we just let people search out other encyclopaedias on their own.

Israel Lebanon Conflict Evacuations[edit]

Several american news companies, cnn, nbc etc had reporters in larnaca during the conflict to cover the evacuation of american (and maybe other countries) citizens from lebanon by the military. The evacuees were brought via boat to larnaca. Is this important enough to include in the article. SpokaneWilly 05:15, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I (being one of those evacuees) think that should definately be included, specifically because Larnica's port has been used strategically like that in the past. Notable people[edit]

It is rather sad that the name of an ancient Greek philosopher features alongside the names of some unknown ball kickers. Larnaca has many dozens of really notable people, and I will be adding to this list in due time.Mazkyri (talk) 15:38, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Colloquially known—past or present[edit]

Larnaca is—or was—colloquially known as Skala? By Greek speaking people of Cyprus' past? This needs a citation. I have slapped on a handful of references. You have picked away some rotten "language fruits" in the article. If there is no current notable use of the name Skala—for the city, as opposed to one of the city's neighborhoods—then I will gladly pick that cherry. You could say that it's "increasingly infrequently referred to as Skala" or something along those lines, I suppose. I've heard "Skala" being used to refer to the city on a few occasions, for what's worth. --Lfdder (talk) 14:45, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Skala neighborhood is a Turkish Cypriot neighborhood. Do people who are not Tyrkish Cypriot refer to the city as "Skala"? - What does the greek page say, without citation: Ως σημαντικό λιμάνι, η Λάρνακα παρέμεινε και κατά την περίοδο της Τουρκοκρατίας (1570-1878), οπότε τμήμα της πόλης ήταν γνωστό και με την ονομασία Σκάλα, επειδή εκεί έκαναν σκάλα (σταθμό) τα καράβια. --The long road homw (talk) 19:47, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, some do.
More of a transliteration than a translation:
"Larnaca remained an important port in the Ottoman times, when part of the town was known as 'Skala', because ships 'made skala' (stopped) there."

Some asshole changed all climate data, and made Larnaca hotter than real[edit]
