Please provide the Beatles' EP chronology.[edit]

When I was on the page for the Twist and Shout EP, I had this available:

The Beatles EP chronology

My Bonnie (1963)

Twist and Shout (1963)

The Beatles' Hits (1963)

But when I get HERE ("My Bonnie"), I am lost (i.e., no way of getting back easily to Twist and Shout EP). Please fix. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.82 (talk) 16:33, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Other releases[edit]

«Other releases» section contains ambiguous info :

  • «Polydor issued two EPs from the album sessions. The first, Ya Ya (October 1962, Polydor 21 485), contained "Ya Ya" / "Sweet Georgia Brown" / "Skinnie Minnie" ». Not quite - This version of Sweet Georgia Brown was recorded by the Beatles and not from the actual album sessions and Ya Ya is a live recording.
  • «The second, My Bonnie (July 1963, Polydor 21 610) contained "My Bonnie" / "Cry for a Shadow" / "The Saints" / "Why".» Again, not exactly from the album sessions - All these were recorded with the Beatles before the album was planned. As the article says, "My Bonnie" / "The Saints" were issued as a 45 a few months berfore being included on the album. JeanPaulGRingault (talk) 21:14, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I believe all the Hamburg studio recordings by the Beatles were recorded under the same contract for the album. Much of the material didn't end up on the album but was reused later when they became famous. They recorded more material after the album to complete their contract so they could record with EMI. It's all worth noting on this article. The information on later releases could definitely do with expansion and clarification. M.Clay1 (talk) 23:56, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The album was a Tony Sheridan affair with whatever backup band available. The B had a seperate contract but I don't believe Polydor had a contractual obligation to make an album with them. In fact, both Beatles-only recordings were shelved (exept Cry for a Shadow that was released in France in '62 under Sheridan's name!). At this point in time, Kaempfert aimed at making money with the Elvis sounding Sheridan and not with the new fangled Beatles. You are absolutley right about the 2nd recording session. I think this article should concentrate on Sheridan's album. In my opinion, it is not the place to note all these other details because it adds to the confusion and the approximations one can read on the internet. I would summarily mention the 8 Beatles tracks but remove all details about those recordings except, of course, for My Bonnie and The Saints, with a link to The Beatles First! where everything can be clearly explained. That would be my strategy. That is what we have done in the French WP pages. I will leave it to you and maybe I can help out in any way I can. Good night ! The reason I think it's all worth noting is because the Beatles material is frequently mixed up with the non-Beatles Beat Brothers material and packaged together. The only reason the Beat Brothers material is constantly re-released is because of the confusion with the Beatles, and it's often erroneously credited to the Beatles. Unless we make a separate article specifically on the Beatles' Hamburg recordings (more specific than The Beatles in Hamburg), I think it's easier to clarify it all here. Same battle, different strategy ! In French WP, we've created a page for «The Beat Brothers», «My Bonnie (Tony Sherdidan and the Beatles song)», «My Bonnie (album)», «The Beatles' First !» (with all its iterations combined within and of course all the links to the songs pages in the tracklist) and «The Beatles in Hamburg» (this last one is still a stub), plus « Mister Twist » (which is specific to France), etc. I've been trying my best to avoid and correct any misinformation wherein about who recorded what ! But all specific details are included in the specific pages while only mentioned in peripheral pages. For example, in our «My Bonnie» album page, we talk about the June 61 recording which produced the title track and The Saint while mentioning the existence of the 5 others. We also differentiate the two recordings of Sweet Georgia Brown and Swanee River. But we avoid going into details about all the other songs or reissues since they don't apply to the album tracks. I'd be happy if you could ckeck it out and telling me what you think; use the WP translate tool to get a sense of what is written. Thank you for participating to this fine project. Personnel[edit]

The Personnel section needs to be fixed, as it currently gives the false impression that The Beatles play on every track. It also lists Sutcliffe, even though the article text says he didn't play during the sessions. Are there any credits for the musicians on the non-Beatles tracks? Jah77 (talk) 16:39, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, Personnel section should be fixed. The other tracks were recorded by ex-members of the Jets (british musicians that were invited by Bruno Koschmider to play in Hamburg which included Tony Sheridan). I do not have a suitable reference for this so it will most probably be reverted. JeanPaulGRingault (talk) 22:27, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
