Nickname?[edit]

I always had friends call it "the 'Dale", but I don't know how extended its use was. Should someone mention Trout's? --Bobak 20:00, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How? We might want to think about changing the article to reflect the fact that Buck's old studio has closed down. Frotz (talk) 18:38, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is commonly referred to as "the 'Dale", another common nickname is "the '08", based on the zip code of 93308, which is used solely for Oildale. --justinpmeisinger 21:00, 15 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.95.210.77 (talk) 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.198.101.178 (talk) 20:15, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's self-deprecating humor. Frotz (talk) 05:06, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Misinformation?[edit]

A section in here states that the KKK sometimes marched down Chester Ave in the 60's. That is not accurate but I cannot find the proof. I lived and grew up in Oildale from 1944 until 1960. My folks and other family are still there. I and they would have known about the KKK marching down Chester Ave. and not one of my family nor friends can come up with an incident of the KKK in Oildale. Yes, the KKK sympathizers (sp) were there, but they stayed out of site. If I can find the truth, I will forward it on to you. In the mean time, the blurb about the KKK should be removed until I can prove or disprove it.
