Untitled[edit]

Okay - so I'm an old coot - I saw them live a couple of times in the mid 70's. I'm sorry to say they were a MAJOR disappointment - they couldn't hide the fact (on stage) that there was a lot of infighting in the band, and their performance was like....."well since you idiots paid to see us, I guess we have to perform something or give the money back". I am surprised they didn't kill one another. GnR stole their act...20 years later. 4.88.43.154 17:57, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Just an old Bassman , adding his comments4.88.43.154 17:57, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Crazy (Suitable Case For Treatment)[edit]

Does this song appear on any other record?!? I know it was on the Heavy Metal OST.24.68.50.33 (talk) 19:44, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They rock![edit]

I agree, that is why I am making pages for all albums! (It's about time someone did....) Weatherman90 00:15, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can not help greatly, as I am largely clueless, but I know Nazareth were a more influential band than they have ever been given credit for. Be bold Weatherman, and good luck !

Why does the present biography simply dry up in the mid 1970s ? Has someone removed a large tranche of text ?

Fair use rationale for Image:Nazareth.jpg[edit]

Image:Nazareth.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:30, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TWO versions!?[edit]

Hey all,

There are currently TWO versions of Nazareth touring!

http://www.nazarethlive.com/

This Nazareth includes Manny Charlton... I saw them a couple days ago at the Canal Concert Series in Lockport, NY. I was VERY confused when I saw them take the stage and saw Charlton, who according to the Wikipedia page isn't in the current lineup... someone who knows what the heck is going on with the two versions of Nazareth needs to explain this in the article! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.77.77.146 (talk) 23:24, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another topic missed in this article.[edit]

The author does not even mention Nazareth's song "Child In The Sun", which also became a worldwide major hit. Overall, it is informative for starters. However, I share the same concern as others about the completeness of this article and, in particular, that information was suppressed to support the viewpoint that Nazareth is overall a mediocre band. Sorry, but it belongs together with Boston and other hard rock bands. Somebody please bring some fresh air into this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lamp90 (talkcontribs) 20:13, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure who 'the author' is that you refer to as, in the broadest sense at Wikipedia, everyone is. However, I will answer two or three points you raise. Firstly, "Child in the Sun" was simply a track on their 1973 album, Loud 'n' Proud, which reached #10 in the UK. It was not released as a single (not even as a B-side), so to describe it as a 'worldwide major hit' is, with all respect, somewhat over egging the pudding. Secondly, the issue of 'completeness' was resolved some time ago, and I am intrigued as to why you think information was 'suppressed'. By whom exactly ? There is no comment in the article suggesting they are a 'mediocre band' as far as I can see, and comparison with other bands output or stature is subjective at best. Can I respectfully suggest that if you think 'fresh air' is needed in the article, there is little to stop you inserting some.
The article is a long way from perfect. A comment most Wiki editors, I believe, would readily admit applies to nearly all articles in the current encyclopedia. However, there is only one way it will improve generally or, as here, specifically.

"This Flight Tonight"[edit]

My personal impression is that, in Canada, "This Flight Tonight" was their monster hit in the 1970s, and that is still the one I hear on the radio here. Not "Love Hurts", no way. Haven't heard that song in decades.
I have no data to support this impression however, naturally. Varlaam (talk) 21:56, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An image used in this article, File:Nazareth 2007.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Some other editor has reverted your edits. Please do not assume on Wikipedia - moreover, please read Verifiability. Thanks,
Derek R Bullamore (talk)

I reverted your edit because you didn't provide a source to support the entry that the band had finished, or were planning to finish. You also didn't explain your edit in the edit summary, so we can only guess your reason for making the change. Please make yourself familiar with Verifiability as suggested above. Best wishes Flat Out let's discuss it 09:26, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the grammar[edit]

First though, I'm born 1964, in Scania (southernmost Sweden, close to Danish capital Copenhagen which actually feels like my capital city too). And I remember as a kid , at age 8 or 9, everybody was listening to British (and some American) music. And Nazareth was huge among those who was older than I. But I began listening to them around the time when their "Greatest Hits" was released. And ever since have I liked hits like "Broken Down Angel", "Turn On Your Receiver" and (little later) "Gone Dead Train" and I'm listening to "Love Hurts" just now. A really great band, and I've got at least 7-8 vinyl LP's with Nazareth. Further, in school we were taught British English. Only in secondary school was American English briefly mentioned. From television one adapts things however, English and American film and crime stories are underlined in both Swedish and Danish television (never dubbed), but on Wikipedia do I try to use British English (especially in articles related to the UK and Europe). But when it comes to sport, have I learned that for instance "Queens Park Rangers IS a football club" while "New York Rangers ARE an ice-hockey franchise team". So without any criticism whatsoever, could "Nazareth ARE a Scottish hard rock band" be typical Scottish within British English ? Boeing720 (talk) 17:41, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

USA Album Releases[edit]

In the USA, Nazareth's albums were released on both Warner Bros. Records and in the 1970's, A&M Records released many of their albums. Discogs is very reliable and shows record releases from all over the world. Just check the individual pages on their records and that will show you. Plus, I have many of Nazareth's albums in my vinyl collection, mostly domestic, and their self titled album was released on Warner Bros. and A&M released many more in the USA and since I have these, that is how I know. Here's the page of Discogs of their discography. Check it out and view the individual pages of their records:

Semi-protected edit request 11 November 2018 (formatting error and overlinking)[edit]

The last part of the second paragraph is: ("I pulled into Nazareth / Was feelin' about half past dead...").

The forward-slash was altered in this 2007 change by adding spaces either side, but it wasn't correct initially.

Suggest changing to ("I pulled into Nazareth, was feelin' about half past dead...") to be faithful to the lyric (emboldened emphasis on comma and de-Cap letter 'w' just for clarity here, not intended to be transferred into article space).

Nazareth, Pennsylvania is wikilinked twice in the same sentence, piped as [[Nazareth, Pennsylvania|''Nazareth'']]. I ain't bothered to trace the date of the second linking . Thank you.--86.29.222.228 (talk) 02:24, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
