Yale paragraph[edit]

I edited the paragraph about Yale, based on this sentence, from the transcripts of his 2004 address to the community: My own college, Yale, with $1 million of my own brother’s money to do just this, will not teach what I call gay history, unencumbered with the prissy incomprehensible gobbledygook of gender studies and queer theory. I think you should add that sentence verbatim to the article, rather than try to paraphrase it. It's better to let Kramer speak in his own words and let the readers figure out what he means. Adam 14:29, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)

haha this quote just shows how out of touch that dinosaur of a professional complainer Larry Kramer is with GLBT issues and politics these days. I think you should keep this quote in the article. Queer theory does include gay male history as well as bisexual, lesbian, and trans history.

Please grow up. If the above quote is accurate he's referring to anecdotal accounts about gay men's earliest sexual experiences. ACT-UP[edit]

Is ACT-UP a militant group? It doesn't say that in its own article? The ACT-UP page says "non-violent" and only mentions "civil disobedience." Someone please correct this inconsistency. Voice of All(MTG) 05:17, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I know Kramer's Jewish, but is it significant in his life or work? I'm asking out of ignorance, and because Category:LGBT jews is a category that an IP editor often adds as pseudo-vandalism. The day Milk was on the main page, an editor put a fact tag on the info box in his article for the claim that he was Jewish. I thought it was ridiculous. I said as much on the talk page, but I really didn't like the infobox in the first place, so it was not something I cared so much to get feisty about. From what I'm reading, Kramer has had even more cause to doubt he was practicing, since he criticized Jewish organizations and leaders regularly enough. So, just because nothing can ever be clear, what's the standard for including the category of Jew? Must he have been a practicing Jew? Ugh. --Moni3 (talk) 13:13, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Religion and sexuality categories are clumped similarly and should be sourced solidly. I think Kramer is critical of all institutions including the LGBT community.

FA[edit]

There's a very good possibility that this article can get to FA. Kramer apparently has quite a volume of literary and social criticism about him. An FA would require a section on theatrical/literary analysis of his works. I must confess that I have not read nor seen his plays, though The Tragedy of Today's Gays is on my list to read. I feel confident enough to write a section on social support and criticism for Kramer's tactics and statements, but wonder if an editor may be interested in focusing on the literary side. --Moni3 (talk) 18:56, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
