Why the name Everclear?[edit]

Why are they called Everclear, is it based off the grain alcohol liquor called Everclear? I heard him say, when he came to my college to speak, that the band is called Everclear, because Everclear looks like pure water, but it's "pure evil," which he sees as a parellel to a lot of things in life. So that's why, according to him, but I don't have a documented source for it aside from my own ears to put it in the article. andrewlargemanjones

I just wanted to dispel this, from the old entry:

"Early comparisons to Nirvana (exacerbated by the singer's blonde hair) went into overdrive when Kurt Cobain publicly stated his approval."

There is no documented evidence of Kurt saying anything about Everclear. There's certainly a theoretical possibility, granted that Tim/Kerr's owner, Thor Lindsay, was a friend of Kurt's. But, to date, there has not been a single corroborated story that it actually happened.

Now, in 1995, Dave Grohl publicly offered his approval, at the same time contradicting those who claimed Everclear sounded like Nirvana. (He said he thought Bush sounded more like a Nirvana rip-off.)

I also removed the "grunge" references in the entry. While Everclear's early recordings might have had a grunge sound, the rest of their output is distinctly more straight-ahead rock and pop influenced. -- ChrisB 04:03, 28 August 2004

Nope. I think a couple of radio stations played it, but it was definitely not a single. (Love Spit Love's cover of the song, which came out the same year, was a single from the soundtrack to the movie The Craft.) -- ChrisB 16:37, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be mentioned that their (?) track Local God was included on Romeo and Juliet movie (the one with di Caprio).

Hater[edit]

This music-video was reported as "controversial" because of its depictions of Jesus. The video is dedicated to Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. I don't know if this is relevant for entry in a wikipedia article, but its interesting to note. -- Prajalpa 03:45, 08 Aug 2006 (UTC)

Small world[edit]

Scott Cuthbert played tenor drums for the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps (Concord, CA...currently 18 time world champs). One of his mates in the snare line was Carla Azar...the drummer for Autolux

Regarding "Grunge" being added to the genre box...[edit]

I just changed that to "Post-grunge" right now. Everclear is definately not a grunge band. Post-grunge, yes, but grunge, no. They're way too poppy, and, from what I've heard of theirs, they just flat-out don't fit the description of grunge. Anyway, I just didn't want to change something without explaining why. Australian tours[edit]

In the so much for the afterglow section. The second paragraphs ending has been recently edited to "Everclear did not return to Australia until 2015." from the previous sentence which claimed they hadn't toured Australia since 1998.

Unfoprtunately both of these statements are wrong. I know this because I was at one of their recent gigs in Sydney at the Metro Theatre, but was also at their gig 12/10/2012 at Hi-Fi in Sydney. Check out http://musicfeeds.com.au/photos/everclear-emperors-smoking-martha-the-hi-fi-sydney-12102012/

Columbine and "Wonderful"[edit]

In the article, it is claimed that the Columbine High School graduating class of 1999 used "Wonderful" as its theme song. This does not seem possible, as the song was not written and recorded until 2000. Perhaps there is some confusion, either in the song choice, or the year the song was used--possibly the 2000 graduating class?
