Laid down 1971 or 1972 ?[edit]

One site says 1971 and the other 1972, so is the article here. Whats right and whats wrong ? --Denniss 01:48, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

History since early 90s?[edit]

Their main site's history page doesn't even mention Desrt Strike in '94 or anything since the shipyard period. Surely there's more? *I* was aboard from '94-'97, and we didn't just sit there. 71.137.21.84 21:36, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Post 2000?[edit]

I was on her in 2000-2001 with the 13th MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit). We gave humanitarian aid (passed out food, painted a few buildings, and put in athletic/sport recreation facilities) to the natives of East Timor, and responded the the USS Cole Bombing. During the Cole response, we took on the crew of the USS Cole, DIA & FBI agents (due to the Yemenese paper publishing the actual hotel and room #'s the FBI were staying in). We cleaned up the mess associated with the USS Cole (bodies on ocean floor, identifying body parts for burial, make the USS Cole semi-operable). After some time (not sure how long) the Cole was tugged out to the Marlin and transported for repair. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.179.8.41 (talkcontribs) 15:21, 29 November 2006

Determined Response[edit]

USS Donald Cook, USS Hawes, and the British ship HMS Marlborough did not provide any logistical support, but did provide harbor security. Logistical support was solely provided by the USS Duluth, which was the first ship on the scene after the attack and stayed in close proximity to the USS Cole until it was taken away by the MV Blue Marlin. The USS Tarawa did not stay until the USS Cole was taken away. The USS Tarawa and USS Anchorage headed into Persian Gulf to Bahrain and then to the UAE for the training exercise "Iron Magic" taking L Co, BLT 3/1 from the USS Duluth along with them, leaving I Co, BLT 3/1 to provide security on the USS Cole, security on the shore adjacent to the USS Cole, and security for the FBI and other civilian investigative personnel at a nearby hotel. 124.122.55.133 (talk) 02:15, 16 March 2015 (UTC)Co GySgt, I Co, BLT 3/1, 13th MEU(SOC) during Operation Determined Response[reply]
