June 2009[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of circulating currencies. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 13:34, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Alanmak. If you don't revert the article again for at least 24 hours, it is possible that no action will be taken. See the latest comment in the report at WP:AN3. Please use the article talk page to reach consensus. EdJohnston (talk) 18:08, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sha Tin[edit]

How do we work together? I am mainly concerned about the private housing estates and shopping centres in the district. Ricky@36 (talk) 14:46, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Street template[edit]

Is there any reason why you remove the street template from articles? And can you fix the template so that Cantonese is displayed before Mandarin in Hong Kong articles in the Chinese template? Umofomo (talk) 18:37, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Chinese[edit]

Whatever you tried to do with this edit to Template:Chinese broke the template horribly. Please test changes to templates before you make them. And if you were trying to do what Umofomo asked above (make Cantonese display above Mandarin only on certain articles), that kind of change likely cannot be made (I don't think you can make a template behave differently only on some articles) so please do not try to do that again. -Amake (talk) 06:46, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shopping centres in Hong Kong[edit]

I have added some of shopping centres in the list you mentioned. Ricky@36 (talk) 06:50, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me reserve Celestial Heights articles[edit]

Some foreigners don't understand the buildings of Celestial Heights and said the article is worth deleting. I am afraid they can easily remove Hong Kong property articles later. Please support me to reserve the article. Ricky@36 (talk) 01:37, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IPAEng[edit]

Hi Alan,

{{IPAEng}} has been renamed {{IPA-en}}. The old name is being phased out. kwami (talk) 11:10, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, please try to follow the IPA key linked by the template. Otherwise many of our readers won't understand what the symbols mean. If the key doesn't cover a distinction you need, please bring it up on the IPA key talkpage. Thanks, kwami (talk) 11:19, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Charles K. Kao. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. --Aqwis (talk) 14:35, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pic of The Peninsula in in the article Hong Kong[edit]

Hi there~ Very sorry that I removed your fine pic, there seems to be way too many pic on that page and even if a pic need to be added to the architecture section, that pic has to be of architecture significance, to tell at least a architectural style or identify of Hong Kong. The windows details of Peninsula is quite plain and modest compare to other examples of neo-classical building, and the columns are so small that the classical order can't even be identified with certainty =_="". If u have other pics of better significance feel free to add again. ^^ Da Vynci (talk) 05:04, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 02:32, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You would certainly agree that noone today would call the area "Argyle". So writing "Mong Kok (also Mongkok or Argyle)" in the first sentence of the article is misleading, since it gives the impression that the area is still called this way. If, as I may understand, the area was called "Argyle" sometime between 1979 and 1985, then a detailed explanation would be welcome in the "Name" paragraph of the article.

My understanding was that the MTR station was named "Argyle Station" after Argyle Street, Hong Kong in 1979. That is what the Mong Kok Station article says. I can understand that the area was later called casually by extension after the name of the station, which is exactly what happened with "Jordan", "Prince Edward" or even "Tin Hau". This is when "Argyle Building" was named. Then in 1985, the name of the station was changed to "Mong Kok" and people stopped calling the area "Argyle" in English.

Again, if that is the course of events, then it would be better to include it in the "Name" section. Writing "Argyle" in the intro line is not appropriate.

Revived interest in the film Infernal Affairs[edit]

Invitation to participate in the poll for Infernal Affairs.

From your edits for the film Infernal Affairs there is presently a poll taking place on The Departed film Talk page regarding whether you believe a separate subsection should be included for (a) Infernal Affairs as a source for the plot of The Departed film, and/or (b) a second subsection for the recently captured crime figure Whitey Bulger as the source for the character played by Jack Nicholson in the film.

The recent capture of Bulger has revived the question from two years ago of Infernal Affairs from when it did have a separate subsection on The Departed film page which was deleted by User:RepublicanJ, now known as User:OldJ. Invite to visit The Departed Talk page, to the Bulger section at the end of the Page, to participate in the Poll currently taking place. 208.120.96.227 (talk) 11:19, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:HongKong&EastAsiaLatitude.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
