Hero of Belarus[edit]

This article, my first attempt for a FAC, has been edited mainly by myself. My main concerns is that my translations will be messed up, and I am not sure if I have everything needed before I go onto the FAC. Thanks for anything that yall do to improve the article. • Nice article. You should expand the intorduction a little to better summarise the article. You may also want to give a bit more detail about the recipients since they don't seem to have biographies in Wikipedia yet, are only people associated with the milatary eligible? Also take a look at the Medal of Honor, it's a featured article on a similar topic and may give you some more ideas for additions to this article --nixie 00:55, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Only one has been associated with the military, two have been presented their awards posthumously. The rest achieved it for labor purposes (like if you were striving for the Hero of Socialist Labor). I should also talk about the priveleges you get. But thanks for the tip. • Also, I am having a hard time finding bios on three of the heroes, and I need to translate a few more pages. If I get too much information on all of the heroes (five), I might have to create a sub-page. Plus, the lead intro is fine, since a gist of the award and its significance is mentioned. The Medal of Honor page has a two line intro that pretty much spells out of the article. Zscout370 (Sound Off) 01:44, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've gone through the article and dome some grammar/spelling-correction work. It looks good, although some of the translations look a little Babel-fishy. It would be good if you could get the foollowing extra information: 1) biographical details of the recipients; 2) details of the design of the reverse; 3) anything about whether the "V" design has relevance. Other than that, though, I'd give it the thumbs up! Grutness...wha? 07:07, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thanks a bunch for looking at it. To address the concerns:
        1. I am trying to find that now, but it is a bit hard. I can barely find information on three, only found photos for two. Plus, I might have missed a few heroes.
        2. there is nothing on the reverse. The laws would have stated if anything is on the reverse.
        3. I mentioned that it has no revelence.
    • I will talk to User:Halibutt, and I am also mainly worried about the translations. But I hope this makes through the FAC and I hope does not get deleted for "medalcruft." :) Zscout370 (Sound Off) 13:55, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would also add a brief mention of the Hero of the Soviet Union award in the lead, since this medal was apparently modelled after it. Also, it could do a little more wikification, but other than that I see no problem with the article: it's interesting, well-documented and has lots of pics (including pics created exclusively for our wiki). One thumb up, perhaps even one and a half :) Halibutt 16:42, May 16, 2005 (UTC)
    • Thanks. I will add the HSU mentioned in the lead section, and I will try to add more Wikilinks. I drew the medals, since I could not find images that I can use on here. Zscout370 (Sound Off) 17:02, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I started an article (and category) Awards and decorations of Belarus, to put the "HoB" into a proper context. Mikkalai 21:00, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That is fine. I also think about creating a category called "Hero Titles" and add four articles to it: HoB, Hero of SU, Hero of RU and Hero of Socialist Labor. There are other Hero titles too that are not from the Soviet Union, and those can be added. Also, thanks for some of the translations that you fixed.
