High School[edit]

Hey everyone. I actually go to the high school that is named after this guy, so I figured that I'd try and improve this article for my first project. It's still a work in progress, any advice would be appriciated! Patrick Ryan - writer, or archbishop?[edit]

When I typed "Patrick Ryan", I was automatically redirected to this page. But I was looking for some information about Patrick Ryan, writer of "How I Won the War"...

Inaccuracies[edit]

"In 1847 he went to the United States to study at St. Patrick's College in Carlow. ... Near the end of his life, he was assigned yet again to the University of Colorado, where he and another deacon, Adolphus Coorz, developed a theory of libel and slander that later became the basis for New York Times v. Sullivan."

Carlow is in Ireland, not the US and the final sentence is patently wrong. "Near the end of his life" he was no longer a deacon, but the Archbishop of Philadelphia, and I am unaware of anything to support that he was involved with the U of Colorado or, in any way, contributed to a theory of libel and slander. I've rewritten the paragraph pretty much -correcting the text that was the first sentence, cleaning up the presentation overall, and deleting the last sentence. It needs a lot more, but I don't have time to tackle it right now. Irish Melkite (talk) 13:25, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
