Hi Jean,

Please allow me to once again thank you for your superb efforts in connection
with our attempts to bring the summer 2005 Wikipedia/Wikimedia convention
to Dublin.
I feel that you have been more than just supportive and can only thank you for
your very active efforts.

In my opinion the fact that Frankfurt was eventually chosen had everything to
do with limitations on our end -- the number of active Wikipedia contributors
in the Rhine-Main metropolitan area (i.e. around Frankfurt) was conservatively
put at 47, whereas we only got 15 people listed for Ireland. The number of local
organizers was also far greater in Frankfurt and it is perhaps telling that I, a
non-Irish, former Dublin resident ended up being the lead proponent of
"the capital".
But -- we did make a rather good impression, especially with the way your
initial proposals were much more professional than what the competition had
to show.

Of course I am disappointed just as everyone hoping to bring the conference
to Dublin. What we will hope and work for now is to make the 2005 meet-up a
resounding success, which will improve our chances of successfully turning this
first global contributor gathering into an annual event. In that case I would be
happy to propose Dublin again and get back in touch.

Many thanks for your help!

Thanks and regards,

Jens Ropers
