German?[edit]

Has he German ancestors? His name is a very typical German name. Of course it could be that his German ancestry is very distant (many Germans settled in Norway in Hanse-times and slowly assimilated, but if it is not so distant (which especially under military personal is also not so uncommon) this would be an intersting fact. 195.243.51.34 (talk) 07:19, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

His ancestors were nobility in East Prussia, they emigrated to Norway in the late 17th century. That might be something to add. I'll see if I can get around to it during the weekend. Manxruler (talk) 15:30, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I added some about his family, which branched off to both Norway and Denmark. I also started a few articles on an unrelated Silesian family. Geschichte (talk) 07:39, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Norwegian forces at the Soviet border in may 1940? -no![edit]

Quotation from article: "Fleischer's distrust of the Soviet Union continued to show itself throughout the following Norwegian Campaign in 1940, when he kept substantial forces at the Soviet border in eastern Finnmark despite a desperate need of reinforcements at the front line at Narvik against Maj. Gen. Eduard Dietl's Gebirgsjäger forces.[9]"

There were really no border between Norway and Soviet Union yet in 1940. There was about 50-kilometer wide area of Finland between Norway and Soviet Union. (of course there could still have been Norwegian troops in Northern Norway countering Soviet threat.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.93.163.101 (talk) 16:09, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
