Analysis[edit]

This is an encyclopaedia. What it is not is a literary post-mortem, readers guide or review site. The Analysis has no place here. I'm removing it. Perhaps someone can argue for it to be reworked and reincluded.

There is a tendency to reduce articles about comics to a bare plot synopsis and publication details. I believe this is the wrong way to write encyclopedia articles about artistic works, because it's utterly uninformative to a reader not already familiar with the book. An article about a work of art needs to tell the reader what's interesting about it, and that means style, artistic approach and significance, not who inked what issues or the plot, which is in any case the least interesting aspect of any work of narrative art. I would delete the synopsis and restore the analysis, referencing it to published reviews if necessary. --Nicknack009 00:59, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

24 Hours[edit]

Why is "24 Hours" one of the most notable issues in Preludes and Nocturnes? It seems to me that the author just picked one of his favorites, while "The Sound of Her Wings" obviously deserves mention since it introduces an essential player in the series, who returns repeatedly. --Misfit 20:36, 8 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Then change it: but please don't make it another POV claim; try to make it acceptable to everyone: e.g. maybe "notable issues include" or "major plot points happen in," etc. I haven't read the series so I won't do it myself. ^_^ Best, Koyaanis Qatsi 20:38, 8 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Name of the character[edit]

In the main article for The Sandman, it is stated that the name of the main character is Dream, while here it's stated is Morpheus. I suspect both names are used in the series, but I haven't read it, so I don't want to change it. It will be nice if this is clear up.

Both are used throughout the series, along with dozens of other names. "Morpheus" is the most commonly used name in the series, but "Dream" is the most technically correct one (since it corresponds with the pattern of the other Endless' names), and thus probably the preferrable one just to avoid confusion and arguments. However, if you guys favor "Morpheus," we can easily just use that - as long as we use it on all the pages. I'm correcting it to "Dream" for now so we at least have consistency, whatever we end up using. -Silence 08:12, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Article Structure[edit]

I notice someone's moved a lot of the non-spoiler stuff into an "Analysis" section after the spoilers. Surely it makes more sense to have it before? --Nicknack009 09:33, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That was me. Why would it make more sense before? You analyze something after you read it, not before. And the synopsis is more important to the article than the analysis, since it deals directly with the actual content of the article's subject, rather than being commentary on the subject from an unrelated source. Another option I've been thinking about for the organization of these pages is to divide it by issue. What do y'all think of that idea? -Silence 09:57, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
