Intro[edit]

The intro is too long. We need to choose the most important basic facts for the intro, and then put everything else in the main text of the article. And we need to cite sources. Heroeswithmetaphors (talk) 04:02, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed this statement from the intro: According to the city's page, the mayor Jeong Jong Dueg says it is the goal of Mokpo to be home to arts of Yellow sea in brilliantly developing Northeast Asia.^[1] I couldn't figure out its true meaning, and couldn't access the website to which it refers. Is it talking about "artists in the Yellow sea?" Not sure. Perhaps someone with access or knowledge could revise and replace. Jeffmsmith70 (talk) 04:23, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've been working on editing it. Right now it sounds suspiciously like the Mokpo Chamber of Commerce put this together. Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't read fluent.

Under Japanese rule[edit]

Eliminated second paragraph because it was impossible to copyedit; I could not discern meaning. Text was: For business activities, transportation enhanced stimuli for many people to congregate while many people gathered for work. The aims were headed to build temporary housing places near Japanese residents. According to the local records, smaller mud huts were along the narrow street where the commander barely allowed to live in.^[1] Series of facilities were built including Mokpo theater of which possession was from Korean peninsula. There were only 3 theaters in possession of Korean, including Seoul's Danseongsa, Gwangju Theater in current Gwangju metropolitan city.^[2] Jeffmsmith70 (talk) 04:06, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

After independence[edit]

I eliminated this paragraph; I could not discern its meaning either: After 1990, Mokpo's new port (called newly built outdoor harbor) was officially working for accommodating exports, mainly KIA motors, while Daebul and Samho industrial complexes gained factories in fields. At first pace, South Jeolla province was confronted for deep concerns over investment^[1] owing to lacking transportation and accommodation. In 2007, South Korean ministry of Industry and Resources designated the area for renovation cluster with that of Masan in Gyeongsangnam-do. The chief reasons were because China's huge growth became momentum for the city as connecting destination for local companies for southerneast Asian nations.
